Question HID Fogs seem loose???? (attracting cops)

I got my fogs in but not the heads yet, still waiting on the bulbs. So I am driving tonight with just my fogs on as it is about dusk. I am going down a fairly rough road and begin to approach on a cop from the rear. He stays in front of me for a bit then pulls off the road and gets behind me. Follows for a minute then pulls me over.

At this point I am thinking, great my first ticket because of the HIDs. Well that was not the case. The reason he pulled my over was because he said both my fog lights were loose and "jigging a round". He even said that the fog lights were "bright and clear looking". My response was " yeah, they are nice")

So that was it, just told me to get the loose bulbs fixed.

So the rest of the way home I watched them and when I hit good side ruts in the road it looked like the bulb was moving somewhat as I watched the beam pattern on the road. So when I got home I tried to move them and they did move up and down along with a bit of side to side movement in the housing.

Anybody else have this problem?

Maybe they just look like that because they are so bright you see more of the slight movement of them?

IDK...would I make them tighter?

hey man. i have the same prob with my 08 limited hid fogs. when i hit a good bump or ripple in the road, i see my 3000k fogs wiggle around a lil...ur guess is as good as mine. i tried to even secure the bulb socket to the housing of the lamp. but still does it. i think there is some kind of washer for these bulbs but not to sure.

Are you sure the housing isn't moving? I would check to see if there is any play in the housing.

I've also heard of rare occasions that the bulb will sort of crack at the part where it's secured into the housing. This could cause the movement. I would remove the bulb and check it out.

Good call on the housing....I will check it out.

I do remember seeing a screw along it with a spring in it....is this for adjusting?

I drive down some ROUGH farm roads, and my HID fogs never move or "jiggle" at all. The bixenon bulbs in my headlights do though on occasion.

your bulb isnt seated properly, or your housing screws are loose
