Why would my fan come on right after starting when it sat all night?

I started my truck this morning after it sat all night and the cooling fans kicked on after being started for like 2-5 seconds. I did have hit set on defrost when it was turned off. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't know if Fords do this, but just about every other car I've had does this, so something to think about.

The Defrost will kick on the A/C by default. You don't have to hit the A/C button to do it. It does this to keep the humidity out and defrost your window or windows. Most cars, when the A/C is on, sometimes regardless of the water temp in the motor, will kick on the fans anytime the A/C is on.

It's possible that this is why it is doing that. You may just try tonight to leave the climate control off and then try and start it tomorrow to see what it does and then again the next day w/ the defrost like today. I bet that's what the cause is.

Fan clutches just do that when the engine is started.

It is annoying. Mine runs for 3-4 miles after a cold start with absolutely no accessories running.

It runs hardest at startup and rarely runs that hard even in 110° heat with the A/C on.

Same here. Runs very loudly at startup sometimes.

If I don't remember to turn my a/c or defrost off before i get out of my truck, my belt squeals right when I start it. Now THAT bothers me.

lol thats awesome! lol

on another note tho. it is normal. i am on my 8th vehicle and i am 24(only wrecked one lol) and i remember most of them ahving the fan turn on at startup maybe 1 out of every 50 starts. doesnt matter if A/c is on or off or defrost either. just sometimes does it. my 08 f150 did it the other day and i had the control set on floor and had the temp close to the middle like i have been the last 2 weeks. my dad's 00 sierra 4.8L does it every day no matter what and turns off after it goes into 2nd or 3rd gear depending on the day. when my 08 does it, it does it until i shift into 2nd(manual), sometimes while im accelerating in 1st i hear the fan go away halfway thru. but anyway it is normal. and it is not only ford. my 89 firebird, 96 trans am, 90 5th avenue, 97 ranger, 04 f150heritage, and my 08 all did it on occasion.

Hey timmypstyle, I don't think your picture in your signature is big enough. Can you make it a little larger so we can all see it?

LOL! I was just kidding. It doesn't bother me...but there are some picky people on here that won't be joking when they tell you to change it. I do like the angel eyes though. They look really cool.
