Truck is back in the shop

Couldn't take the clunking coming from the front right anymore. Already replaced upper control arms/ball joints, checked everything that I could, and I am stumped. Just the last few days it was starting to shimmy the wheel at about 65 as well, so I said enough is enough. I just want to get back to the beautiful ride I used to have. Hopefully it won't be too bad of a diagnosis.

What shop did you take it too? If you don't already, try taking it to apple valley ford, they have a great service dept. I was having some weird sort of clunking as well and it turned out to be the sway bar had come loose at the LCA.

I used to love ole Apple Valley Ford. Loved them. I took it there when this was first starting, and they told me ball joints right away, and that everything else looked good. Fixed the ball joints, now its really clunking. Main reason I soured on them was that they told me that I was under 3mm on my brakes and wanted like 250 for new pads, thank you very much. I was planning on putting in Wagners on anyway because of the dust from the stockers, so I did, and lo and behold the fronts still had at least 6-7mm on them.

Sorry to hear about that, they always treated me really well.

As far as the clunk, check the sway bar brushing where it attaches to the lower control arm. I had a really annoying clunk/rattle for a long time, and this turned out to be the answer.

Thanks, I just heard back from them. They did a complete suspension check and can't find anything wrong, besides the tires being pretty well out of balance. They are going to balance the wheels and give me an alignment, mostly to fix the non straight steering wheel I was left with from my last alignment.

Was the sway bar link just loose on yours, or was it off?

Thanks again!

The sway bar was still connected, but the rubber brushing was completely gone. They replaced both sides for about $80/piece IIRC

Got her back. Suspension all around was A-ok. Talked with the guy who did the work for a while, even went for a ride with me. Balanced the wheels/tires, and aligned. At least I know that there is nothing wrong! Sometimes I get to worrying that things are worse than they really are, I guess. Thanks for helping out!
