Arrow Wagner TQ brake swap!

okay people.. I bit the bullet and had my brake pads swapped out.. I'm tired of the excessive dusting from the stock pads and quite a few people on the forum have highly recommended the Wagner ThermoQuiets. I picked up the front and rears from AdvancedAuto for $85, lifetime warranty and all that good stuff.. Plus.. there's a $30 rebate for buying both pairs.. definately worth looking into if any of you have been waiting to pick up a set.

Well I just did a quick detail on my truck today and cleaned my wheels up.. it's time to see how well they don't dust up. As far as braking performance, they seem about the same.. but it's hard to tell, I've only had them on for a couple hours.. I guess they'll set in a little more within a day or so.

I went ahead and had them installed at the mechanic across the street.. I don't really have access to a proper lift and etc.. and I figure it's better to be safe than sorry.. it looked easy enough.. but they had them done within the hour.. so I'm not gonna complain for a $50 brake job.

My new brake pads are way less dusty but they still make my black wheels and ugly shade of pink. I have to scrub them with a toilet brush to get them clean. Sucks! Easier to clean chrome. Whooda thunk!

you wont be disappointed. Keep in mind you might still have dust in and around your brakes (from the old pads). I waited a day or two and washed my truck, its been 3 weeks and no dust.

Lifetime warranty as in you'll never have to buy pads ever again?

Yea.. that's what it looks like. Advance Auto Parts has a limited lifetime warranty on them.. a few limitations are that the vehicle not be for commercial use and that they are installed properly on the vehicle listed on the receipt and etc..

Here's the links.
front - http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...S_758501932___
rear - http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...S_758515329___

I got mine for $40 a piece.. but the website says $50.. I'm guessing my local store has them on sale..

Anywho.. as far as the rebates go.. I'm actually looking at getting a $50 rebate. $15 for the fronts, $15 for the rears, and $20 for the professional installation. Not too shabby..

Here's the link for the Rebate details.. http://www.tqbestforless.com/

I think I am going with Wagner pads next, I am not the biggest fan of these new carquest blues, they make alot of dust, and they warp rotors like crazy

I like my Wagners, they have been on for almost 25K miles and still going strong. I dont know who started the rumor about no dust though.

I have had the TQs for 72,000 miles and I hve no visable brake dust. I have gone as long as 3 weeks on rare occasion between washes and the only dust is road dust and dirt. With my OEMs, I was wiping the wheels off every 2 days or so.

I may have to check these out. I currently have Napa 'blue' pads and they can still coat the wheel fairly quickly Not near as bad as stock though. I doubt though that anything is going to cure the dust for me with stock brakes trying to throw out the anchor on 37's/38's Definately let us know how it goes

Yep.. I figured anything could be better than the stock pads.. I'll post back by next Friday to see how bad they've dusted up.. it usually only took my truck one week to dust up with all the stop and go traffic I'm in on the stocker pads..

I'm optimistic.. but ya can't beat the price either way.. anywho, the Thermo Quiets seem to be pretty popular around town.. when I called around for an install price, a lot of the installers said they use Wagners..

Thumbs up

I installed TQs on my 97 F150 and had virtually no brake dust at all! I'm going to wait until my 3yr/36K mile warranty is up on my 07 before I install TQs on it.

Well if they are as good as everyone claims.. now seems like the time to buy them.. with the $15-50 rebate from Wagner and lifetime warranty from Advanced Auto.. it seems like a pretty hard deal to beat.
