Question Fuel tank size

Hey guys, I need some help with figuring out my fuel tank size.. i know the standards are:
26 gallons on a reg. cab short bed

27 gallons on supercabs

30 gallons on reg. cab w/ 8' bed and all supercrews

but i have a supercab AND a 5.5' box

anyone know what my tank size is? or an easy way to figure it out, the reason im asking is because i would like to know my MPG, so if anyone knows an easy way to figure this out let me know that too!
thanks for the help!

I believe your tank is a 30 gal.

My brother-in-law has a SCAB with a 36 gallon tank.

36 gallon tanks were optional on all 145" wheelbase trucks (super cab 6.5' bed or regular cab 8' bed).

I believe it is 30 gal. I have a 5.5 supercrew. If im not mistaken, when the fuel warning comes on, there is still three gallons left in the tank. It usually takes roughly 27 gal. to fill my tank at this point.
You might also want to check the owners manual?

Fill your tank up until it is full, reset your trip odometer and drive around. The next time you fill up, divide your miles by the gallons used. Here is an example:

Your trip odometer shows 247.5 miles, and you pumped 18.5 gallons into the tank to fill it back up.

247.5 / 18.5 = 13.378mpg (about what my truck gets ).

To determine your tank size, run the truck down to almost empty and fill it up. If it takes more than 26 gallons to fill it up, you can rest assured that your tank is larger than that and narrow it down to a 30 or 36 gallon unit. If it takes more than 30 gallons to fill up, you have your answer.

My guess is that you have a 26 gallon tank.

There is a number of tank sizes depending on the model of truck. I have a 08 SuperCrew with 6.5' bed and a 35 gallon tank.

Tornadom got it right. If you want to figure your MPG, doesn't matter what size tank you have. You gotta fill up, reset your mileage, drive around a couple of days or so and fill up again and do the math. For MPG, doesn't matter if you have a 5 gallon or 100 gallon tank.

I have looked and gotten some different figures, some say 26, 27, 30, 36 etc.. so I rounded up the manuals for '04-'08.

2004

2005

2006

2007

2008

I dunno. Everything on here leads me to believe that my 2004 Screw has a 30 gallon tank, but I have been on EMPTY before and still couldn't fill it with more than 26 gallons. Is it possible that I have only a 26 gallon tank?

You can download an owners manual for free from www.motorcraftservice.com, in the owners manual section.

Just depends on just how empty you get it. Once you get the needle to E you usually have 3-4 gallons left. On my '04 SCREW I usually only got 26-27 gallons when it was reading E. But I could get more into it if I was past E.

On my '08 SCREW I managed to get 35.8 gallons in my 35.7 gallon tank once! And that was letting the pump autoshutoff and not trying to get more in it. I had to have been running on pure fumes.........
