Exclamation Painted Mirror Caps Question

We've all seen the recent mirror paint threads recently.

I am not a handy person with Paint though. It's worth it to me to just buy them already done so I can't screw it up. So I went looking at FTE Parts Guy's website and found this.

W/painted mirr Left - Power w/o towing 2007-08 - Power w/o towing 2007-08

If I'm correct, this is the painted mirror cap...non towing mirrors though. Am I right? or is this just a black chunk of plastic that needs painting?

TIA

It clearly says the word "painted" but I have my doubts... that price is just to good... plus where do you specify which color you want? Let me know if you find out though... I would buy them.

I dropped a e-mail to them about it.

Ed might be at work tomarrow, but it will probably be Monday at the earliest before I hear back.

I hope it's true. $62 + s/h would be awesome.

that piece just comes primed, still needs paint. i would make sure that your mirror can even use those, i would pop the mirror glass off and check. i got a feeling those are not gonna work. but maybe, but those mirrors 1/2 caps didn't come painted until 07, so i have my doubts. if you click on the whole mirror part, it says primed r/with heat, so it's just primed

yeah I know the caps aren't painted until the 07 models. that is how I found the caps. I was looking at the 08 mirrors and found that part

you're probably right that it's just primed...but maybe it won't be a pipe dream.

i understand that, but where are you gonna use them on? my point was i don't think the mirror caps on your truck is a 2 piece model, only 1 hence you couldn't use them on your truck if that is what you wanted to do. unless you are gonna buy whole new mirrors and then they would bolt on but the pins would need relocating.

so my mirrors are a single piece?

It was my understanding that the mirror body was 2 parts. the bottom part which bolted to the door, and then the top cap.

if you pop off the glass of your mirror, there will be some torx screws holding the cap on, my truck has 4 screws that hold the front piece on, it's 1 solid piece. i thought it was 2 but i was wrong. i talked to my ford tech buddy, he said that all of the fronts are 1 solid piece, except if you have the half chrome cap or if the half is painted already. so i aint 100% sure, but i think your's would be 1 piece too.

why buy anything? its super easy to sand/prep/paint your own mirror tops. I did all the sanding/prep of mine and had a shop paint/clear them. Tuff4rd did the same, only he painted his himself. Mine have been holding up excellent for over a year now.. If you did it all yourself like tuff4rd it should cost less than 50 bucks, doing it the way i did and getting pro paint/clear will run around 100 bucks.
