That is pretty typical of any vehicle i've seen in the snow belt. I have even seen that down here in Kentucky with vehicles that poeple don't clean after they salt the roads.

It's called leaving your truck outside in the winter. If it's garage kept rust will be minimized.

Even then parts of the engine will get minor surface rust. Heck, I don't even drive mine in wet weather and one thing that bugs me is the shaft for the Roushcharger is a little rusty.

Come on Roush! Ever heard of a stainless steel shaft for the blower????

my trucks been in NY since 06... sure, there is rust... if you saw how much salt gets on these vehicles, you wouldn't be surprised... i wash mine once a week during the salt times... there is minimal rust.... if you dont wash it but once every month or less, it will get more rust... most pre 1995 cars here are rusted out... with holes in them...

I wash mine 2-3 times a week during the salty winters! So far my truck shows little to no rust on the undercarriage or under the hood!.......

Wrong, Rust happens faster in heat. So leaving it outside in the cold will reduce the rate of corrosion.

It has been proven that garages experience less moisture. Heat is a factor, but humidity and continual exposure to moisture is the leading contributor to rust.

That's why in the desert rust does exist, but it's the light surface rust you typically see on vehicles in the first 3-4 months of exposure out east.

I Rustoleum my F150 every single year.

There is NO rust on it.

The last time I've washed my F150 has been since July of 2008.

It's because humidity is extremely low. You may get snow but it is so dry nothing rusts. Now, when spring thaw comes around your trucks and cars will rust like they're sitting in a pool of water.

Watch and see.

guess what ? your wrong i have owned a 200 ranger, traded in , for an 05 vrey minimal rust . Traded up to the 07 F150 2nd winter 35000 miles rust very minimal surface at best. Also if you would like to get trechnical im a tool and die maker with a degree in metalurgy and the effects of temp are so minimal its not even funny . Corrisive substances are a much bigger factor! And if we arer so dry why does my dehumidifer run year round ?
