Body lift questions

Hey guys....
Thinking of going with a 3inch bodylift instead as of lately.

Dont wanna hear how they dont look good etc...

My father doesnt think i should do this....he says it puts a lot of stress on the truck and the ride will be stiff. He's worried about extending lines etc. I've researched this pretty good and pretty sure this is what i wanna do.
Has anyone had any problems with a body lift?

I considered a BL myself...don't see anything wrong with 'em personally. My reasons were cost, but after adding up all the extra components plus extra work to make it look "right", I wasn't sure if it was worth it. One thing I do know, I would go with the 2wd valance like in this thread:

I know you have the bull bar, but IDNC76's rig is pretty clean.

if you dont install yourself its gonna be expensive. about $1000 just for install unless you get lucky.

ask your dad how it will make your truck ride stiff and see his answer, this is one time you can argue with him and win. it does not touch your suspension so there is no reason your ride should change at all, tires might change your ride a little but the BL will not effect your ride at all.

you will need gap guards, re-do your exhaust if your dualed out the back, fix your trailer hitch by the time you do all that a suspension lift probly would be close to the same price

thanks guys...
Think i can get the 3inch body lift for roughly $460 with gap guards.

Reasons for doing this:
I live in the north and will be running my stock wheels in the winter. Dont have to worry about the backspacing of my stock wheel with the pro comp.
I dont plan on going higher than 35's anytime soon.
Price is the main reason.

I'll hopefully fab a bracket for my bullbar.
Probably take my exhaust to be raised.

Hoping to do the install myself

He's thinking the stress overall on the truck will be worse while towing etc

You don't need to fab bracket for your bullbar, it fit perfectly with the body lift on. Look at my album and you'll see.

No problem with my body lift since installation 1.5 years ago.

love my body lift all the way ride is still good i am getting new shocks though all the way around maybe bilsteins, but i purhcased mine and got it installed at a shop for around 550 and they did a great job on it. i still need top get my gap guards though. but like all of it but like every one says now i still want to go higher so i am thinking of going witha 6inch also. there is somine who is selling a stage 1 lift on here for around 1000-1200 which isnt bad... maybe you should talk to him... good luck bro

A body lift will not affect the ride at all and it is not gonna cause any problems. The only problem is the kits for the 04-08's are a pain to install. So, if you can't install it yourself, it's not cost effective.

lift

i've installed about 8-10 body lifts on my trucks over the years. My last one was on a 99f150. They hold up fairly well.
I ended up doing a 75mph Full body flip in mine on the expressway.

It hit the corner (above door) and I did a Complete flip in mid air and land on all 4 wheels! I couldn't open my door, had crap all over my truck, my boat deck hit me in the ear (5 stiches) I could have drove the truck away!! Wasn't even tweak from that.

The worst ones to put on and DO NOT HOLD and is when you have a rusted out truck with no metal for support, very unsafe then.

so go body if you want one and suspension level in the front while your putting your body lift on.

other hand...what size tire do you plan to run (body lift might not get you there) To where a suspension lift will OR maybe you need both..wooot!!

As Wandell said, the only problem with them that I've heard of is the gap they produce, and the amount it costs to have it installed if you CAN'T install it yourself.

If you want to go for the body lift then go for it. It won't affect your ride as your suspension will remain the same.
