Are the cruise buttons on the steering wheel directly tied to that steering wheel or can they be changed out? i.e. Can you take the cruise only buttons off a wheel and add the cruise, hvac , and radio controls?

 

I don't know about the hvac and radio buttons.

My truck did not have the cruise control so I bought the buttons from the stealer and put them on myself. you do have to remove the whole steering wheel assembly for they bolt down on the backside of the wheel. Not that hard to do though.

 

That's a good question. I just happen to have 2 spare steering wheels.

From what I can see, they can be changed out (2 brass nut fasteners behind each switch). Whether or not you can buy the switches by themselves is a different question. These wheels were purchased with the switches.

Based on where they are, you will must likely have to pull the entire wheel to get them out. Or at least take the airbag out. You're better off just getting a new one, or a used from from a junk yard.

 

Looking at the Expedition switches, my guess is you're looking at least $120 per 2 switches.

You're better off getting an entire wheel at those prices. I picked up my tan ones from ebay for $115 shipped each. Entire wheel and switches were included.
