Just a little rant
Just a little rant
So I went to my exhaust guy the other day to fix a broken hanger. I usually hang out in the shop and was checking out under my truck since it was on a lift. Turned out that I must of hit a good size rock(or maybe the downed tree I ran over) and there was a slight dent on the lip of my front diff. It was leaking slightly so I had them change the fluid and and reseal/ fix the dent. Well the reason I'm Pi$$ed off is because my truck has been to the dealer twice since I moved back to Michigan from Montana.(and I know that is where it happened) What good is the free multi point inspection if they miss something as obvious as that. Especially since the truck was in the shop because the 4x4 was not working. Not to mention they lost my key and had to cut me new ones and let my battery die when they were reprogramming the keys. Needless to say I'll be driving the extra 25 miles to go to a different dealership from now on. If you read this sorry for wasting your time, just had to tell someone.
On a side note, $80 a fair price to change front diff fluid with full syn, fix the dent, clean and reseal? Probably a little pricey but I just wanted to get it done and over with.

Damn I didn't even think that the dealer might have been the culprit. Too bad I didn't notice it earlier. Oh well.
The fluid was a little low but not terrible and definitely very dirty so it needed to be done anyway.

If the dent/leak was on the differential cover/housing itself, I can't see how they'd cause the damage because there's no need, reason, or possibility of lifting a truck on a rack by the front differential.
But of course, it was just at the dealership, and they're all a bunch of crooked f'kers anyways, right?
They're human. They miss stuff. It happens.

i hate people working on my vehicle period or touching them even. i remember one day i went to a gas station and the guy open the fuel door and i watched him in the mirror take off the gas cap and drop it against the paint, i almost plastered him, needless to say i fueled up elsewhere. people just don't care if it's not there.
which is pretty crappy because new trucks cost enough money, they should be more helpful when you take them in, they should high five you when you walk in the door for christ sake! my dealer is great, i can't complain a bit. don't care that it's lifted, super helpful, fixes it right the first time, and they even remember my name, sounds stupid, but it means alot (to me anyway)

i agree 100%
I'm fine with my mechanic whom I know well, working on my truck. But I cant stand it when the dealer takes it into their garage and closes the door, no idea where its at or whats being done..
yall gotta realize something too,at the dealer the guy that is doing the multi point inspection or the maintanance is the low guy on the totem pole.he is more than likely the new guy and the guy that does know what he is doing is doing bigger work,i worked at a dealer and thats pretty much how it wasthe little kids were the ones doing the maintanace to train as you will call it.there are a few and i mean a few dealers that are worth a damn.not many anymore.also like i said that diff fluid that is synthetic is 16 dollars a quart or so.so 3 quarts is almost 50 dollars.also on a side note the independant shops will screw you alot faster than a dealer.just my 2 cents.
