I know my Ball Joints are worn out do to my 2.5" spacer...I want to buy some Camburg or Total Chaos UCA's to not have to worry about the problem anymore, but I need time to save up for those expensive things.

How long can I wait before replacing the ball joints? Do I have a few months or should I just forget about the Aftermarket UCA's and get ball joint replacements for now?

 

Anyone...I am not sure what happens when you have a bad ball joint, but just worried the joint will break or something causing my wheel to fall off.

 

This is so funny I just posted in the suspention section regarding this topic! I'm going with a 3" font and 2" rear leveling kit with 33" tires and I'm so worried about ball joint wear it's marking me not want to do anything to my truck. I was wondering if a stabilizer bar would help take the stress off of them?

I wouldnt wait too long at all. The camburgs would be the way to go for sure. You got any more pics of the new wheels and tires? They look real good man.

 

jditta, do you happen to know how long is too long, and maybe how to tell if its the joints that are worn or if i should just grease them up?

If you can tell there is slack already there, id do it relatively quickly. You cant really get an exact answer on when.

 

Thanks man, I guess i will go ahead and replace the ball joints until i can save up to get some uca's. Is there a reason your preference is camburg over total chaos?

 

Either or will work, they ar both reputable. I just think more people have the camburgs than total choas.

 

i wouldn't wait any longer than you have too. big tires and wore out ball joints are just asking for trouble. worst case scenario, tires falls OFF! not something to be ignored IMO

 

What tool do i need to get the old ball joint out and the new one in?

 

i know the tops are one piece units, your replace the whole arm. i don't know if you have to drill the rivets out on the lower ball joint or not, never did those yet.

 

I thought i could keep the original control arms and just replace upper ball joints...I found ball joints at autozone for $60 a pair, which made me think I could just replace ball joints? If I have to get the whole upper control arm that runs around $200 for both...

 

as far as i know, the upper ball joints are connected to the arm. i know when i had to replace the one of my 07, it was 1 piece assembly.

 

I'd say replace asap unless you want to be buyin 700 bones worth of tires soon
