Can you tell me why? - Gas Mileage

My gas mileage is so pathetic. 05 Screw, 2wd 3.55LS. Most of my driving is city, and short trips(5 miles or less) All I have basically is True dual straight pipes no muffler 2.5". Any ideas guys? Preciate it.

city driving and short runs are the worst thing you can do for fuel economy

I'm gonna suggest the gears are a tad too small, maybe not enough PSI, un-balanced true duals.

Probably would make a killing on the highway with 3.55. I'm running 35PSI, I'm thinking of running it at about 38, not sure. Haha, you and the X pipe. I'll get it done sometime haha.

Anyone had any differences with the gas with Ethanol? I'm thinking of trying Chevron(apparently Ford reccomends) I did it once and got WORSE. Perhaps it was cleaning out gunk?

It runs fine. I mean it only has 17,500 miles, so no to the plugs.

I'd say it's because of short trips with the 3.55 rear end. Like you said, highway driving would probably be much better.

I'd try it now, but the Chevron is 1.89 and everywhere else is about 1.75. Not sure I can bring myself to do 14 cents extra a gallon.
