the fuse tap I bought was at Advance Auto, it is a simple ad-a-circuit plug in for the mini fuses. here is a photo of it made by Bussman. Mini fuse tap

i am not 100% sure which 10 amp fuse I tapped, but it was a 10 amp that was switched by the ignition. dos not really matter which 10 amp you use, as long as it it switched. The mini fuse tap actually holds two fuses. One for the original circuit you are tapping and one for the new wire you will add.

I will find out more info tonight as well as take a few photos of the install wires, grounds, better switch pics and the fuse panel.

it really is easy and i would suggest this mod to anyone who is semi handy and can take their time and not get frustrated.

Correct me if I'm wrong

You installed the pads into the lower and back parts of the seats but how does it stick if you didnt use the sticky tape on it.

- I take it that you ran your power wire from the kit to the fuse tap, After that, which location (fuse #) did you use in the fuse box?

- I take it I will need two fuse taps. One for the passenger and driver side or is it (4) one for each pad, or did you use 1 fuse tap for each side (driver and passenger).

- How did you get the hi/lo buttons to stick to the panel next to the cig lighter?

ALSO

Does anyone have a picture of the factory heated seat buttons?

*** They don't have a number to contact them ***

While you at it check out this link, lol.

You installed the pads into the lower and back parts of the seats but how does it stick if you didnt use the sticky tape on it. I used the sticky tape on mine, but it would stay just fine if you did not use it and it would have been easier to handle. Keep in mind I did not take my leather off, I simply opened unclipped it to allow me to slide the pad into place. The sticky tape is really there to hold the pad to the cushion if you needed to re-install the covers. (it would hold it in place and not slide around on you) but once in place.. it can’t move.

I take it that you ran your power wire from the kit to the fuse tap, After that, which location (fuse #) did you use in the fuse box? I ran two red wires (one from each seat kit) to the fuse box on the lower right kick panel of the passenger side. I then combined those two wires and crimped them into the Bussman fuse tap wire. I Used Fuse #18 which is a 10 amp and switched by the ignition. I am not sure which circuit that is for though, look in your owners manual. The reason I used it is because the fuse tap fit without hitting any relays, the wire does like a 90 degree out of the tap, so there are only a few 10 amp that will work and be switched.

I take it I will need two fuse taps. One for the passenger and driver side or is it (4) one for each pad, or did you use 1 fuse tap for each side (driver and passenger). I used 1 fuse tap for both seats. Each kit draws 4 amps on high, so with both running a 10 amp circuit should be all you need.

How did you get the hi/lo buttons to stick to the panel next to the cig lighter? They are not stuck there, they are drilled with a ¾” bit and pushed through. They have small metal clips that hold them in place. You feed the wire through the hole first, then push the switch into place. The switch itself is about 1 inch deep and it has a wire tail on it that is about 7 inches or so.

I went with that one based on the measurements of the seat area, the price and the fact that the others seem to do the same thing, but slightly more money and I thought I would need to cut the pad, which I did not want to attempt.

for the buckets in the F150, the 11"x11" is perfect. the switch is a dual led (red / green) and the heat they throw is pretty impressive. More heat than my wifes 08 Merc Mariner.

I'm trying to figure out if I have buckets seats. I have an FX2 sport and if I remember correctly I have captain chairs (seats). Do you have a pics of your seats, lol. I'm going to do this mod thanks to you. I'm also thinking about doing this to my rear seats (only the left and the right. Do you think the 11"X11" will do the trick for the rear as well.

Yes, you have "Bucket" or "Captain" seats. The 11" can be trimmed, it tells you the sizes on the site. i would simply measure the area you need to keep them at.

But on your front seats you didn't cut any of the 11"x11 Correct? I was just wondering if the 11"x11" would be enough for the rear seat or if I would need something larger. I'm not trying to go all the way across but I would like to hit the areas of the back seat directly behind the front seats.

So if I wire the front and the rear and run the wires to the fuse box do you think this is too much? Also do you have a idea as to were I can mount the switches in the rear.

ok I got a question. This is something I've been wanting to do but now I'm ready to do it. What is the part number for the oem heated seat switch? Is it one piece? can I add it to my truck?

It's easier but the rear seat back is what's a PITA.

Ok so i ordered these seat warmers. Im ok with everything but the fuse tap part. So you got a "tap" that you plugged into a 10amp fuse, so that old fuse and another fused for the seat warmers can be used? Where exactly can I get one of these. Ive been looking online but Im not sure exactly what this piece is, or what it looks like. Thanks... fyi, I googled fuse tap but Im not sure what im looking for/at.

Is this what I need? I plug that into the fuse spot, add another fuse then run the wires to that red wire sticking out? Or would I be ok, just pushing the wire into a 10amp fuse space, then pushing the fuse back in?
