I would think closer to 19k with the certification would be a good deal.
If you buy elsewhere, do look for factory cert. on it. Miles are so/so, maybe if
it were in the 20-25k range mileage wise they could get 21.

Ultimately how much you can haggle them for.

Right now, they'll probably accept a reasonable price.

Look up the NADA price for trade in and go from there.

Go to nada.com and kbb.com and see what they are priced for. kbb will be a little higher on their price. Dealers use the NADA book to price their autos. The mileage is kind of high for the year.

I'd consider Ebay, but I need to sell (trade in) my 05 Ranger FX4 before I buy a F-150. We've had a major ice storm here in KY where I live, so the truck search isn't going so well since we are in such a mess. I did finally get in touch with the dealer about the truck this afternoon and they are supposed to get back on prices, etc (they are running on generators themselves).

I agree, anywhere in that range. Take the truck for a test drive and beat on it a little. Its not yours yet, go through all the gears, test the 4x4 high and low. Go from a dead stop to as hard as you can put that gas pedle down, to a fast stop! Thats what i did when i took my 04 for a test drive before i bought it Drive it like you stole it!!!

How do you know they changed the brakes and stuff? Sometimes you get told things that are BS. Id make em take every tire off and look to see the brake pads and rotors. Just an idea......after you test drive also....

When you buy any used automobile, the dealer should let you take it to your own mechanic to check it out. If the dealer doesn't let you, walk away from that dealership.

18-19 before TTL or after?

This is one of the best Ford dealers around-I bought my current Ranger from the salesman that I've spoken too about this truck, so I trust these guys. We've been w/o power since Wednesday and it just came up tonight so I've had little time to find out more about the truck. My wife is supposed to be induced tomorrow evening for the birth of our baby boy , so the truck shopping might be delayed a few more days.

N.A.D.A. (which is the guide dealers use) has it listed at $21,200 as 'Clean Retail'. That's a fully loaded 2006 FX4 (leather, sunroof, towing package, etc).

Start dealing down from that number.

I paid $22,000 TTL plus certified for my o5 Lariat with 17,000 miles. That was almost 2 years ago. Economy is much worse now, think they'd try to be selling their stuff a little more ?

The price difference between the FX2 vs FX4 is about $5K. Its going to come down to what the dealer wants to let it go for.
