New Truck (FX4 -04'), 2" or 2.5" Leveling Kit

Hey Everyone. I just got my FX4. Love it!
I plan on adding a leveling kit and some wheels/tires.

Not sure if I want the 2" or the 2.5" leveling kit. I'm buying the Auto Spring kit.
I don't want it sitting too high in the front (looking higher than the back).
But, I want 33" tires without rubbing.

I have some Moto Metal 956 18x9 wheel, don't know the offset.
Is there an easy way to check it?

I want 33" tires. I've seen people with BF Goodrich AT 305-65-18.
Not sure what size those are in inches, but that's the general idea.

This is a daily driver. So I'm trying to keep it simple, but nice.
Thanks for any help. I look forward to spending some time here.

Here's my truck, need better pix.

My wheels

And my Mustang for a kicker.

on my 04 I have a 2.5 which made it perfectly level, then I added a leaf, jacking the rear up about an inch, now its settled down to about 1/2'' or so of rake. You could do a 3'' block out back to achieve the same thing without sacrificing ride....305 65's should fit with minimal rubbing, but 325/60's seem to be the more popular size, and I am pretty partial to that size since I have them...check albums for pics.

Go with the 2.5" AS... I went with 2" tuff country and it did not seem to make a real big difference.

All the other f150 in my town have a 2.5" or 3" (dont recomend) leveling kit with 33"s, and they all look 2x better then mine.

It doesn't help i still have the 17" stock chrome clad wheels on either.

OEM rubber on your FX4 is 32" (275/65/18)

have you tried 33" tires yet? a 285/65/18 is almost 33" tall, and about 1/2" wider. should fit your truck as it sits right now without any issues

btw, I'd only run a 2" block up front. The 2.5" makes most trucks sit either dead level, or nose high.

edit: oh yeah, welcome aboard F-150online. This is a great site. better hide your wallet though. There are lots of ways to spend some money on here

Welcome!! I have a 2.5" kit in my truck and mine sits dead level (measuring to the center of the wheel wells). So if you want alittle bit of rake get either a 1.5 or 2" kit.

Welcome to the site !
Might look into purchasing a set of the bilstein 5100 series shocks. The fronts can be adjusted to give you 2" of lift and since your truck is an 04 it might need new shocks possibly. Just another option to consider.

If you need new shocks get the 5100s, but I just put the 2.5" kit on my '04 FX4 and the nose is still a 1/2" to 3/4" lower and it looks great. I am actually glad it did not fully level the truck or make it bully dog like the newer trucks with slightly shorter rear blocks.

And I just put a 2" kit on mine, and my front sits 1/2" HIGHER...... So I wouldn't take the chance with a 2.5" spacer.

Play it safe and get the 2". You'd wish you would have if you roll your dice on the 2.5 and end up with a nose high truck.....

My '04 FX4 sits ALMOST level with the 2.5" autospring. Sometimes it looks dead level, sometimes the front still looks slightly raked, just depends on the angle. Just by my experience with my truck, I'd go with the 2.5".

I'd go with 2.5". That's what mine is on my 05 F150 and it's level. If you end up higher in the front you could do an add-a-leaf in the back which gives you 1".

Either way, a 2" or a 2.5" will clear the tires he wants.

The big question is....does he want to gamble on the 2.5" and possibly end up nose high?

Or does he want to call it done with a 2" knowing it will still allow for the clearance he needs?

Sure, many here have taken that gamble and come out with a level truck. Some have not.

Makes no sense to have to purchase additional hardware to compensate for a mistake, all for the sake of 1/2 of an inch. Seems pretty simple to me, but to each his own.

I got the 1.5" kit and I have 295/70/17 (~34") tires on the factory 17" wheels. The front of my truck is about 1/2" lower than the back. It's perfect for me. There's pictures in my gallery if you want to take a look.

I have the 2" kit on my 04 and its pretty level. I also have 275-70-18 (33.5" tall) tires. Seems to me like if you have a screw you should stick with 2" kit, as the rear is a little lower on them due to weight distribution. Otherwise, you could try the 2.5" if you want to go bigger.

Just remember, most people who say the 2 or 2.5'' are higher in the front are newer...since you have an 04 it has an immense amount of rake, 2.5 will sit you level
