Sometimes it won't start.....

Overview on the truck since i have yet to make a custom sign:
04 f150 with a body lift.

Shifter arrow on the dashboard doesnt line up with the letters perfectly, usually before the letter except for park which its center over.

Sometimes when i go to start my truck, it won't turn over or even crank, totally dead.
I have to pop it out of park into any gear and then back into park and it will start normally.

A friend of mine told me that it is this part:

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...a=FR903-1S5329

I just wanted to make sure if this was the actual problem by determining whether anyone else has had this problem and has solved it.

Thanks for your help

Did you ever try just putting it into neutral and trying to start it before going back to park? That switch would be the first thing I would check if it were me.

Yeah I was gonna say neutral swirch also. You can adjust the cable on the switch I believe (I did the swap when I had a 98 ranger, its been a few years). try that before you get the switch and make sure you install the switch correctly.

Its icing where I am so I'm not going outside to take pics. I pulled out the haynes manual (I highly recommend you get a haynes or chilton if you work on your truck alot, ~$20 @ advanced or autozone)
First of all it says to adjust cable before trying to diagnose any tranny problem. Next is it column mounted or center console mounted? Ill post more cuz theres different ways.

I just have no idea how to adjust the cable or what I am looking for. I can only hope the haynes manual has this in there.
