zero acceleration
zero acceleration
2005 crew xlt. 78,000 miles.
Ok, I drove home a half hour on the freeway and made a stop before getting home. When i started up and put in drive, there was no acceleration past a slight "idle speed". Even mashing the pedal to the floor, no revving or anything, just felt like mush. And check engine light came on and the little wrench light above it which i dont know what that means. So i turned it off, waited a few and started it back up and again, no acceleration. Maybe 3 miles an hour. Both engine lights on again. Turned it off again and waited and started it up and it reved finally and was able to drive home with no issues other than only now the check engine light is still on but the little wrench light above is off. Any ideas? Yea its cold here but its warmer today than it was yesterday. Its about 8 degrees. this morning, it was 12 below and i had no issues, no engine light on the way to work.

Not being mechanically inclined, if the fuel pump is not getting gas to the engine then it wont rev, regardless of putting the pedal to the floor? I mean it makes sense to me. Just wondering.
I'd say something is wrong with the throttle body, throttle position sensor, or something of the sort...the throttle body sensor(forget what its called) may have not functioned properly in the cold...my truck ran at 250 rpms when i started it today until it got a little warmer and it was -8
Could be frozen water in the fuel line. A good way to tell is change the place youve been buying gas if you havent been buying from say BP, Amoco, Chevron. If you've been at a "hot spot" or mom and pop store, either they dont take good care of the tanks or just put water in there to make you think you get more fuel then you do. and it kills you're engine.

I had a 96 dodge that did the exact same thing, i mean exactly. It did it for like 2 years it might happen like once every 3-6 months and I or anyone else could ever figure out what was wrong. It would happen I would turn it off and on a couple of times and it would run fine and then like 5-10 min later the check engine light would go off. I know that doesn't help but I know how frustrating it is!
