The factory POS in my 07 gave up the ghost earlier this winter. Heck, I had trouble with it when it was 6 months old but the stealership said. "it checks out ok, so there's nothing we can do" -19 this morning and my 850 CCA replacement got the 5.4 cranking.

mine is on the verge of going, barely cranked over today in -8 degrees, truck barely stayed running, idled at about 250 rpm for about 20 secs then up to normal level. Didnt High idle though, which I think is good, could cause damage when its that cold.

My original battery is still kicking. I'm not concerned at this point. We've had some solid cold temperatures for a good week now and she's still kicking. -20 this morning and she sure didn't kick over with the same grunt as in warmer temps, but that's to be expected to a point in these cold temps. It was about the same grunt as when starting it in -30 temperatures.
This battery has seen some cold too. My trucks first winter was spent in northern Quebec.

My original went out last year when it was right at 4 yrs. old. Drove my Edge crazy for awhile also. Put in a Interstate and no more problem's.

My original went instantly dead at 35 months. I was running an errand, came out of the store, nothing. No lights, just nothing. Never shown a sign of weakness. Replaced it with an Interstate, no problem since.

Been having problems with mine too...that's how I found this thread! 2004 w/ 101,000. The only problem I am having with mine is the CCA's. Been having problems for about 2 months. Went duck hunting this past week and several mornings it barely made it! Time to start shopping!

Mine was replaced under warranty when it was less than 6 months old and less than 5K miles. Dealer said it was defective.

Regaurdless what brand battery you have......

Get a "Battery Tender" and use it!! Especially in cold climates. Every month I will throw it on the truck for a day or two and let it peak the battery and trickle charge it for a while. You will be amazed how much longer your batteries will last if you keep them near a full charge all the time. I also have the "battery tender jr." for all my snowmobile and ATV batteries. Even those batteries are 130-170 dollars now, so I like to take care of them.

They are worth every penny!! My .02

Truck is an 05 with 60k and hadn't been any trouble. Started it up last week and moved it inside to install my new Gryphon programmer. After programming truck wouldn't start and took it back to stock and still wouldn't turn over ; thought i had killed it. Quick call to Bill at PHP and he diagnosed it as a dead battery; quick charge and sure enough started right up. Replace the original 650CCA with an 880CCA. Found out the tuning takes a good amount of juice.

I replaced the battery in my '04 at 60k miles (5 years 1 month old). The gauges were taking longer to move to their normal position at start-up and read here that it was due to a weak battery. Since I didn't want to get stuck anywhere, I spent $105 for a new Motorcraft from the dealership during its 60K service and all is well again.

Battery just died on me this afternoon...05 33k need a new one with better CCA.
Figures it's a florida truck so it has always been warm and the first day we 50* weather she decides to crap out. What are some good but cheap choices out there? remember im not working so any high dollar ones are gonna have to wait.
