Knowing your stance on past illegal lighting issues, this kind of comment doesn't surprise me comming from you.

Man that sucks, let me guess...it was a motor officer or "motorcycle cop" as they are refered to? Those are the officers that are more knowledgable about the vehicle equipment violations and laws, personally I never knew about the "improper use of lighting" law
Sorry your buddies got popped. I still plan on getting HID's and eventually doing retro fit projectors from a BMW or something.

Here are my before and afters from stock to H13 and 9005 Silverstars:

Stock

Silverstars:

Completly satisfied, and knowing that the whole thing was done for less than half of the HIDs for just the headlights, well that makes it even sweeter.

Well, I made the plunge and put them in my truck as well.

Mine are the H13's (9008) ST Headlights, but the Fog lights are 9145 ST's (not sure what the difference is if anything).

I was surprised that they came stock with Sylvania Bulbs, but they're not the ST's. The white looks cool compared to the Yellow. I'll test them out on my way to work tomorrow morning...

Can't Wait!

In no way are me having strobes illegal. They are never ever turned on when moving or in any way impersinating an official. So they are in now way illegal.

And I have projectors with them turned WAY down. They are fine and I am never flashed unless i accidently forget to turn off my foglights.

I tried the HID in the black housings and honestly they suck. Blotchy pattern and the glare was going every direction. I had to point them down so far they wasn't as nearly good as the silverstars.

Glad to see you are lenient as an officer, lol but I had to add one think just to clarify. Navis look like they have halogen housings when in fact they do not. I would agree that their stock HIDs scatter more light than a projector housing but there are a few cars including some nissans that have HIDs from the factory in a reflector housing. This type of setup uses a different setup. " D1S and D1R bulbs have a large rectangular igniter module in the base of the lamp. D1R bulbs have black masking for headlamp systems that use reflectors to direct the beam. D1S bulbs are for headlamps systems that use a light shield to direct the beam.

D2R and D2S bulbs do not have an igniter module in the base. D2R bulbs are for reflector systems and D2S bulbs are for shielded systems."

The location of the igniter is irrelevant in this conversation but headlights with R in the designation use reflectors and S is for shielded, or a cutoff shield and projector housing.

Hopefully that came off informative and not like a ***** but the common conception is that HIDs have to be in a projector, but this is not true on vehicles that are DOT/nation highways safety.... certified form the factory to use HID lights in their respective housings.
