Where to mount air compressor

WHere have you guys mounted your air compressors? I am looking at getting a train horn and an air ride system and don't want to lose any bed space.

I've seen most of them mounted behind the front bumper.

that sounds like a good spot. lots of empty space up there. I wonder why they pushed the motor so far back when they could have made it much easier to work on like older trucks with the motor closer to the grill.

weight between the wheels is better than weight outside of the wheelbase.

Since you are running this with so many accessories, especially since you are integrating it into ride control, such as airbags, I suggest looking at air deicers so you don't get frozen air lines in the colder months.

Something like this works wonders:

two words... crumple zone.

I would not mount it there if it were my truck... if you ever get in an accident you will have decreased safety by putting a large steel canister in the main crumple zone.

If I get an air horn some day I will try to mount the tank on the side of the bed in front of the rear wheels. Not sure if its possible, but that would be my first choice.

it really isnt possible with dual exhaust and a 5 gal tank. so the spare is going into the bed and the tank is taking its place

DO NOT mount the compressor upside down!!! it will fail trust me i know i just went through 2 of them. make a bracket to mount right side up or even sideways
