High Output Alternators

Who sells good quality high output alternators for our trucks? I've just upgraded to a 850 CCA battery and want a bigger alternator to deal with the extra power load my Fisher plow has added.

I think the stock alternator is 110 amps, what can I get to upgrade?

Thanks

That's good to know! I've been wanting to do the same upgrade and that place is only 10 minutes from where I live. Guess I will have to go check them out.

yea 0/1 gauge all the way around. It's called the big 3 upgrade if you want to search the audio subforums.

since this is sort of an alternator thread, when would you guys recomend upgrading to a h/o alt? so far i have 6 aux lights and a mild amp and sub setup, 4 of the lights are cheap trucker lights so i dont know how much they draw but the other two are k/c 5"x7" spot lights, i think i should be fine, and i dont have the lights on much, but im not sure how to tell if im overdrawing my charging system

Try using this calculator. http://www.the12volt.com/ohm/page2.asp Use the line for I=P/E

Add up the number of watts your lights, amp, sub, etc all use. Enter that and the voltage. It will calculate how many Amps your items are drawing. The stock 04-08 alternator (I think) is a 110 amp unit.

This will at least tell you how much of the capacity you're using up with your accessories. Don't forget the truck will eat up a good number of amps operating lighting, heater, engine, etc.
