There are other benefits from a programmer. In stock form, the OEM processor keeps the truck in closed loop too long when it otherwise should be in open loop. That alone provides a notable increase in performance.

I installed an Edge soon after that post. It corrected everything. I keep it on LVL2 so I can run 87. Just doesn't make sense to dump anything higher so I can squeeze a few extra ponies from the 5.4. After all, it's a 6000lb truck and a few extra HP are not going to be worth the added fuel cost.
