how to tell if hypertech is unlocked?
i know your not supposed to double post, but i can't get an answer from anyone. i am looking at buying a hypertech, but i am uneasy about purchasing it. i asked the guy if it was unlocked and he said whats that? i told him that means that the vehicle's settings were returned to stock, he said yes. is there a way to check without using it to see if the programmer is unlocked? he sold the truck so if it's not unlocked i bought a paperweight. can anyone help me?

get it in writing that you are buying a WORKING hypertech and if you are unable to use it due to his negligence of not returning it to stock, you get a full refund....
other then that, i would not do the deal... if he is honest he'll do it... if he hesitates, he knows he is selling a paper weight

the only way to tell is to plug it into your truck and try programming it.
is this an eBay auction? if so, and he has positively said it's unlocked you are pretty safe.
if you get it, and it ain't unlocked, do a Paypal dispute and payment return.
Hypertech will unlock a programmer...but it's over $100 to get them to do it
