Windows are really slow...is it because of the cold weather?

My passenger window has always been about a second slower while rolling up. It got down to the single digits the past couple of days and the windows are sloooooooooow....especially the passenger window...its like 1.5 2 seconds slower the the driver's side. Can the cold weather do this?

Thanks in advance!

I've found that in Ohio winters my f150 windows will freeze. Causing the window to be frozen or move very slowly as the motor fights the ice.

There could be other reasons for a slow window. I'm sure somebody will chime in.

your window switch could be going bad or just needs to be clean do a search on the window switch, many threads about how to clean the contacts on it

It's a major PIA going through the Tim Hortons drive through when your window is frozen shut!

OP, I think everything slows down a bit when it's cold. Just keep an eye on it if it gets worse.

If I remember the manual says six seconds from stop to stop is normal. But if it takes longer than that you might try spraying some silicone spray after cleaning out the channels. There are several threads regarding this, most of them required replacing after failure of the regulator assy. Do a search and you will find information that may help. I never let my windows stop down auto, instead I stop short to help relive the stress, I figure I might get extra time before if fails completely. It can get extremely cold here. Matter of fact, I won't even roll them down when it's below zero going to an ATM machine. I get out instead after reading about all the problems.

The driver's side took 3-4 seconds and the passenger's side was around 5 seconds. It gets a little slow when its about 1/3 of the way up. I know if I take it to the dealer they will say its normal. What traks am I supposed to lube? The actual frame around the window??? The inside felt of the weather stripping?

The cheapest way I would try right now would be to try some silicon spray on the vertical weather stripping where the window slides against the rubber and felt. The rear being longer than the front might be the problem. Try and spray in some lube and wipe off the excess. See if that helps. Run your fingers in the channel first or blow it out with air pressure. I've done this many times on several different vehicles with moderate to good results. If nothing else, it will ease the strain on the motor and other components.

It was 36 degrees and raining and the windows were normal again. I guess its just cold weather related in my case!

power switch is going, or window regulator, driver side one is one entire piece, if you pop off the panel over it and unplug it and replug it, you give it some juice and it will go up.

Been doing that with my driver side one til I can manage to buy a new window regulator for that side now. It sucks but oh well

I really think it was just the cold making them go slow....they were fine today and it was 36 degrees. I just trued them about 10 minutes ago on the way home....they worked perfect and it was 26 degrees. I guess the single digit temps were the cause.
