Quick question....
Quick question....
I've tried searching for the answer but I'm not finding what I'm looking for....so
If I was to swap out my XLT guage cluster with an FX4 cluster, is there anything else that needs to be done, as in programming, etc...?
I'm pretty sure it will just plug right in, I was going to buy one that had close to the same miles as mine, wait till my truck reached the exact same as the new cluster, then swap it in....but will everything still work propertly?

Simple plug and play.
You need a reprogram if you want all the fancy trip computers and little bells and whitsles to work. They can't change mileage (legally at least) but they can give you a cert. receipt with the actual mileage on it, and what the new odo says, that way you can rpove your milage later down the road, if need be.
Most dealerships should do the reprogram for around $100 or so. Lots of places wont do it, lack of proper computer tools.

Do I have to bring in both gauges or my truck and the gauge for them to reprogram it? I was just going to hold onto the gauge until my truck matched the new one's miles so that there wouldn't be any issue on milege difference. I don't want the dealer installing it, they'll probably charge a grip to do it, I can do it in about 15 minutes.

What I would do, is install myself. Hook it all up. Then head down to the dealer to see about reprograming. Maybe call around, tell them whatcha got, and whatcha got going on, and see if they can help. Like I said, they usually charge $100 for the re-flash. I don't think they NEED the old cluster, pretty sure they can pull the info from the VIN, but I'd bring it in just to make it easier.
