Lift Options

I have searched and searched and really cant find the answer that satisfies me. So...

I have a 2008 2WD XLT. It is completely stock except for OEM Harley heads and tails, and weather tech front liners.

I want to know what would be the best route to go for leveling or lifting the truck, 2-4". I have seen people just installing new shocks. I have seen people installing the front end spacers. And Ive seen people installing parts to the front and rear ends.

My goal is to get the truck level and higher. Would not be running anything larger than 33'-35' tires when all is said and done.

I really want to know what other 2WD owners have done.

I know there are horror stories from certain kits/installs. If you had my stock set up and wanted to get it level and a bit higher, what would you do?

Thanks in advance.

What do you guys think about adding the Auto Spring 2" spacer to the front and the 1.5" blocks to the back?

Anyone with this set up on a 2WD?

I have an 08 xlt 2wd supercab. I went with the 2.5 inch autospring kit up front and factory lift blocks in the rear, which looks just about perfect. Not level but the rake is minor. I like that just in case you carry a heavy load, the rear doesnt appear to sag too much. I went with 18x9 moto metals and 285/65/18 nitto terra grapplers. They are great so far and the truck rides just fine. The larger tires play a huge role in ride quality.

Theres not way to get 35's under it without the fabtech 6inch kit. Thtats the direction I'll go in when I need new tires.

I am really happy with the way it turned out, and my friend with his 07 copied mine after he saw it. He now has 3 month old 22's in his garage...lol

Thanks.

How tough was it to change out the rear block? Where did you get yours?

Anybody else have picture of this sort of lift with stock wheels and tires? Mine would have to stay stock for a little while.

I went with a basic performance Fabtech 6" suspension lift with 5" blocks for the rear. The standard lift blocks in the Fabtech kit will leave your truck sitting lower in the rear. Then I added some 18x9 KMC XD Monsters and 35x12.50 Pro Comp MTs.

I had a 2.5" leveling kit on the truck prior to lifting, but the problem is is once you start lifting you'll always want to go higher.

How much did you pay for that kit? How much did it cost you to get it installed? Total?

Thats not too bad, I paid 80 for used ones at the local 4x4 shop. They are really proud of their junk box!

I first bought some universal ones at autozone and then found out you cant use them on these trucks. You have to buy specific ones for them to work.

Pre Lift, Stock:

Yeah, I wanted the 4x4 look, but went with a 2wd because I would never use 4wd. I rarely go off the road, Maybe 20 times a year and maybe 3 when its wet.

What about changing out the front coil/strut assembly? I read about someone comparing ICON coilovers to the Bilstein Struts. What amount of lift would I get? What would I put in the rear if I put one of these up front?

Help!

Thanks.
