Pretty new to the forum...introduction!

So, I am 18 and work full time, just graduated about 6 months ago and I have recently been able to get a truck.

I found a 2004 Ford F150 FX4 in for pretty cheap and its got around 85,000 miles on it. It has its tiny flaws (in the paint-but it can all be fixed), but as a whole, its pretty clean.

I love the truck so far, though the mileage isnt superb (and its got the 36 gallon tank).

But, and I have been reading a lot on this forum about this, it ticks like a mother.

It sounds like a lifter (or a few) doing something. If it is what I have been reading about on here, its the fuel injectors and apparently '04s are the worst for doing it.

I would kind of like a confirmation for what I am hearing, because it doesnt bother me, unless its a serious problem.

But when I accelerate, it gets faster, and my co-worker says that it sounds like a lifter.

The plans that I have for it are modest for now, a leveling kit and some 275 mud terrains, but maybe more in the future.

Congratulations on your truck and welcome to the site. Yes, a light ticking sound is very normal. The injectors make the noise as they open and close.

Congrats on the truck, you won't be disappointed ! However, if it's ticken liken you say it is, I'd definitely have it checked out. It may be the normal sounds that us F150 owners know to be normal, but to you who knows!!!

Well, my dad's a mechanic and he seems to shrug it off with the injector explanation, so Id say its good.

But maybe after meeting a few of you guys you can tell for sure.

Sounds like it could be cam phasers too; Mine ticks also and I believe that's what my noise is from.

I think theres three reasons that it looks low.

one is that my buddy's silverado is leveled, two is that it has those side steps on it, and three is because of the angle of the picture. That, and I took it with a cell phone.

haha very true. Welcome to the site man and good looking truck. Let the modding begin. Heres how level my truck sits after getting a 2'' Leveling Kit by Auto Spring. But dont get mixed by the height bc i also have a 6inch lift.

kinda on a slant too but you can see
