Hella Headlight/Taillight Questions

I'm new to my F150 and I am already looking to add some mods to it; I definitely want to add a HID kit so I ordered a Bi-Xenon kit for it, but I see alot of people recommend adding the Hella headlights too; Why are they better for HID kits than stock?

And I also saw that Hella offers taillights and 3rd brake lights; Which ones are better though: Hella or Recon?

Not to sure about the first question, but personally I prefer the Recon tails and 3rd brake light over the Hellas. No specific reason, but I just like the look of Recon's products. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks! I can't decided whether I want the Smoked ones or the Clear ones for my Blue FX4...

the hella headlights have less glare/stray light than stock.

i have hella heads and a recon 3rd brake light and the quality of both is great. to me it depends on the look you want:

normal lenses then go hella tails and brake

smoked lenses recon tails and lenses

yeah the black housings wont reflect glare back into oncoming traffic like the chrome would...once i get the money i plan on getting a 55watt hid kit and these headlights, the projector will give a sharp cutoff and no worrys about glare

Yup true!

I have Hella Headlight with 5300K HID and i noticed MUCH less glare than chrome ones.

I still ajdusted a little to lower to ground.

If you plan to order Hella, i suggest do some sealant around the Hella where 2 pieces meet cuz of moisture got in headlight. i did it myself and it works good.

YOMAN!

IMO, I put FX projectors into my 2003 Ranger headlight because here were no aftermarket lights available for an '01+ ranger. I loved them, so sexy looking with 4300K light, but even at a stock 2wd ranger height, properly aimed, I occasionally got flashed (subsequently followed by my flash of high beams and blast of train horns). I want HIDs again, but at the height of my soon-to-be leveled FX4, I could not imagine how much higher the light would be on a full size 4wd. It is a shame I cannot have my HIDs again for fear of blinding all of traffic, even if they were aimed extremely downward. I know this is not a really constructive post, but maybe just some food for thought.

Whatever you do...do NOT get those lights!!!! They are JUNK !! The halos don't work for crap and the HID bulbs will not fit behind that plastic lens also there is absolutely NO cut-off at all. Those headlights can only be used with the stock bulbs...I know because I tried them..now they sit in a box in the garage. So far, the best Headlight to use with HID lights is the HELLA black housings. or spend mucho$$$$$$ and have real glass projectors retrofitted into the Ford housings.

thx for the heads up, i looked again and the reflector behind the projector looks like it would def screw up any cutoff if there was one. i dont wanna have to do another retrofit....ahhh

hey sam you said you got those headlights just sitting around in the garage? What would you want to sell them for, because those are looking like my prime candidate for my next projector retrofit since they already have a cutout in the back and are black.

are they still in new condition...also if you dont mind posting some pics of the front and rear please!!

Is there more than one version to the hella headlights?

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000QS9C1O?...0&linkCode=asn

is it that one?

The ones I see aren't completely blacked out, that one looks like the lens is painted and not the inside, might just be me.
