WOOHOO Got my 1st Deer EVER!!!

I've never been really into hunting, although I LOVE my grandmother's venison tamales!

And GROSS it still has deer hair stuck in the bumper, and some stuck on the door.

So, new bumper and upper bumper, fog & head light, repair and repaint the fender and door, and 1 running board. Figured I'd pay the difference to do some other stuff, too.

Ironically, I took it into a local paint & body shop the week before Ike hit to see about getting the upper bumper repainted, and buff/repair all the scratches on the entire truck...Ike = new roof (yay!), new carpet (go me!) and a buncha other small stuff....I was just sort of waiting for the home ins. check to come in to do truck stuff

SO - it could have been much worse, happened Halloween night (of course) bringing the kids home from trick-or-treating, on a long, dark stretch of Hwy 87, scared the doo-doo out of me, I said a 4-letter word, then had to apologize (no cussing in front of the kids of course )

So, suggestions needed please!! --
I'm thinking it's a good time to get a few things done that I've been wanting to do anyways - I want new wheels/tires badly, and new headlights/tail lights, and something done with the faded black door handles.

I already painted the bed caps and wiper cowls black as per steps by forum members, they came out terrific! Replaced the driver's window reg. and adjusted the window last weekend since it made a noise, all following members' steps and it all worked! Amazing!

I also removed the lame tan pinstripes that the dealer had put on it - they just never looked right anyway I hate pinstripes lol - buffed that out with my husband's little hand buffer-thingie, and can't hardly even tell I ever had pinstripes at all.

The problem is that I don't see a lot of the aspen green trucks on here. It's so dark it almost looks black - I do like the look of the black wheels, but not all black, don't want anything "guy" looking, nor TO shiney - chromey - foo-foo looking, just acceptably sporty for a mom of 3 youngsters.

What is the general consensus regarding the black on the dark green trucks? I'm not getting rid of all the chrome - can I have chrome wheels with some black accents? Nothing too busy looking though. And how about the black headlights/tail lights? Or does that look weird on the dark green?

It's an 04 Lariat Crew 2wd, stock 18" wheels and some p.o.s. tires. I thought maybe a 2" level w/new 18" wheels and some bigger tires would be perfect for me. Daily driving is dirt/gravel road & highway.

Sorry for a long post, been savin' up!
Ideas/suggestions much appreciated!!!

Yeah, I calmed down after I saw there wasn't anything gross skewered through the front of the truck....and realized insurance could now take care of the bumper I was going to have repainted anyways

That sucks man, glad everyones ok.

I really wish I would get a deer though, head on, as long as I would be alright The positives, I'd be able to get my harley heads, harley grill, PTM 06 - 08 round fog bumper, all at my insurances expense!

LOL!!! Considering I was going about 70mph when I hit it, it's very fortunate that it didn't do more damage than it did.

And the first thing everyone around here asks me is "well, did you get some meat out of the deal?" and I think they're serious.....!

you're from Texas and this is your first deer? my dad and I have hit 3 between us in Central Texas...stupid deer. that's why a Cow Killer bumper is a necessity out there

and yes, they are serious about the deer meat. the side that hits the car is usually ruined, but if you can gut/drain the blood fairly soon after impact, that deer is fine eatin'

LMAO well, my son was very upset since he'd rather look at deer, but not while mom runs it down! Nah seriously I was shakin' in my boots, and the first thing the husband-person said when I got home was "well...? did you put it in the back....?" I just glared at him and went inside...had a beer and felt much better while planning on what I was going to have done while it was in the shop next week!

But I STILL need to pick out some new wheels before the weekend and I have no idea what looks good on these aspen green trucks...I never realized before that it is kind of a weird color, almost black but you can put chrome or black or any combo on a black truck and it looks great.

IDK...I don't want too much chrome and I don't want everything black, either.
??????????????????????????????????????

LOL NO thank goodness!

It just jumped directly down in front of me so fast, & all I thought was "DON'T lock up the brakes and DON'T go off the road" but I actually thought I'd hit a fawn because it seemed really small at the time. I didn't go back and look for it, since it was pretty creepy out there (and the beer was at HOME) I just checked to be sure the truck could make it home...but the next morning my husband told me it was a doe, not huge, just decent sized, and really after seeing some other photos of deer damage, this was nuthin' at ALL!!! ('cept my new bumper!!!! )

Glad there was no major damage. I was freakin out a few months ago driving up the freeway just outside of Daytona and saw easily half a dozen deer on the side of the road over about a 2 mile stretch. Slowed my *** WAY down. Once I got wehre I was going, I too had a beer. Beer seems to make everything better and is good for calming the nerves.
