Remote Start / Alarm
Remote Start / Alarm
What brand and model number of remote start / alarm combo so you guys / gals have in you trucks?
What are the features of the system and and you still happy with it or do you wish you went with something different.
Also, any issues with it and where did you get it from (and did you do the install yourself)?
I sent Travis from KCAutosound an e-mail but have not heard back yet.
Thanks.

Viper system is what i want for my truck but I am not sure yet, theres a website online that sells them for dirt cheap, I will try to find it....if you know someone who can install it, you save yourself a few hundreds of paying a shop
I have the Marksman M11A http://www.zalmar.com/detail-CarElec...larms-M11A.htm
its your simple alarm with shock sensor, 2-way remote start up to 2,000 ft. away
it was just over $300 for installation and everything at a shop in Marysville,MI
i'm happy with it. i didnt know the differences in remote start/alarms when i bought it and if I had i might have gone with something with more options but i dont really need the other options..they are just fun to have.
I've had mine for a year and it has never failed me or given me any problems.

You might send him another email. I just returned a call to me today after he got out of church. He's had a really tragic week. His father went to the hospital on Tuesday. His wife went into the hospital overnight on Wednesday and then his best friends mother passed away Friday morning. All due to heart reasons. Tough times for him and his family.

I bought a CA671 system from Travis and installed it last weekend.
Other than some programming odds and ends I want to change the install was pretty straight forward.
With it getting cold, and my wife and I leaving at 4:30am to hit the gym, it's nice to get into a nice toasty truck.
I highly recommend the Clifford RSX 3.5... Two way alarm/remote start. The only thing i have done to it is beef it up after i walked out on an attempted break in (coincedence i was leaving at the time, 3 guys with one about to centerpunch a window through). I have 10 shock sensors now (4 in the bed, 6 in cab) also has a hood latch sensors, and a tailgate sensor deal (same as hood latch I think) and elevation sensors by each wheel. The sensitivity is way up on each one too, just seeing people about to break in was enough to make me way paranoid. I wanted to do a perimeter sensor but they said they kinda suck about false alarms and are tempermental with heat/cold. I also tacked on DEI starter kill ontop of the built in starter kill that goes with the remote start. if you couldnt tell i dont want my stuff walking off...
Im was very happy with it before, and am still happy with it. making it beefy was really inexpensive too. remote start works everytime flawlessly. I had it professionally installed by a local guy. I really like the two way stuff i always know if i locked it and if something is up it always tells you and tells you if it was a door open or the hood/tailgate, if somebody hit it, it also tells you if its all out going off or just a warning. I love it, from now on all my security systems will be two way stuff

Well, I just got off the phone with Auto Alarm Pro and I ordered the CA-671 Remote Start / Alarm with digital tilt sensor for my truck and a CA-530 Remote Start for the wife's Mountaineer. They offer teh tech support, etc.... and have been highly recommended to me as well by a couple other members from another forum.
I did talk with Travis from KC and almost placed the order with him but he was still a little more pricey than these guys - even with the discounts he offered. I was really impressed at how knowledgable he was as he answered every question and more. I would recommend him to any one but it was the extra savings that made me go with Auto Alarm Pro in the end.
Thanks for all the help.

My very first alarm was from autoalarmpro. Didn't like their instructions and service but that was nearly three years ago. Huge difference in KCAs instructions and Autoalarmpros. Things could have changed since then. I was much more happy with kcautosound service, knowledge, and the fact that he is a simple family man trying to make it. I much rather support the small guy struggling than the big business.
A cool thing that Travis does on his site is you accumulate points for your purchases. For every dollar you spend you get a point. I think 20 points adds up to a dollar in savings. I have used my points many times to save money on my repeat purchases from his site. I you leave a customer testimonial he gives you 50 points.

I talked with Travis from KC and Bob from AutoAlarmPro multiple times today and went back and forth over who I should order from. I was really impressed with the knowledge that Travis had and how well he knew his systems but AutoAlarmPro was also very knowledgeable and the few people that I talked with that bought from AutoAlarmPro recently said the installs were incredibly easy and they have excellent instructions also.
In no way am I trying to take business away from Travis, in fact I almost decided to pay the higher price and go with him, but in the end, it adds up to 3/4 of a tank of gas at the current prices. I did call Travis just before I bought the systems and gave him the chance to match the price I got from AutoAlarmPro but he said that he did not want to knock any more off as he was already giving me a really good price. I understood where he was coming from and I think that he also understood where I was coming from. Had he matched the price, I would of bought from Travis.
Travis did speak highly of the owner of www.AutoAlarmPro.com which made me feel confident about my choice. He was very professional each time that I dealt with him and I will always recommend him to others. In the end, I may end up regretting my choice to save the extra money, as the install instructions may not be as clear, etc...., but I will just have to wait and see for now.
BTW - DirtyDogg, your name even came up in one of my discussions with Travis.

Later we joined him at the V.I.P. party at the top of the Radison Hotel. Free booze, crazy *** wet T-shirt contest (should have been illegal with what the girls were doing with each other) and even a few after-after parties in some rooms. Was one of the best nights I've ever experienced. On Sunday we joined a severely hung over Travis at his house so that he could install everything on my friends truck. The guy amazed us. Power windows, locks, alarm/remote start was in within 3 1/2 hours. Two amps, four speakers (front components at that), navigation, XM, bluetooth and subs took another 2 hours. This guy did an entire day or two of work for me in just under 6 hours all while we watched and chatted. His wife cooked an awesome dinner for us and we hit the road.

Ha. That's cool. He's cool as hell. A couple years ago a buddy and I made a weekend trip to Kansas City so that Travis could install an entire stereo system, power windows, power locks and CA670 in his 06 STX. While there on Saturday Travis took us to the USACi World Finals stereo competition at Bartle Hall in downtown KC. He introduced us to quit a few big name guys and mobile electronics manufacturers. Even scored us some free products. With his 18+ years in the industry it really showed with all the people he knew or would come up and say hi.

I'll be ordering my [pre-wired] CA-671 soon unless someone can convince me to get the SRT-9000 instead.

When I talked to Travis he said the only two alarms that will disarm using the door keypad are the CA-671 and CA-6700.
me and you always seem to be doing the same thing at the same time, I went with the viper 5701 getting it today and installed tomorrow, I want be able to use my door keylock on my truck, but I like the look of the remote and a few other things better than the codes.
Good luck to you
Good luck to you
The SRT9000 is a cool unit. I've installed three of them for buddies from Travis. You kinda got to get used to the larger remote but it's cool as hell and has a pretty good 2000+ foot range. Keep in mind that this unit does NOT allow you to disarm it with the door keypad. For some stupid reason Code didn't put that feature into the brain. My friends really don't care about it too much though. They just set the alarm off when they press the fifth digit on the keypad and grab their keys quickly to disarm it.
