Intake Question
Intake Question
So, I know a lot of people on here love the S&B intake and I understand why. My question is, does anyone currently run the Volant intake? I found the Volant for a few dollars less then the S&B and am looking for some comparisons. I was going to buy the S&B when I found the Volant for roughly the same price. As far as function they seem to be very similar. Both have the closed box design. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I have a Gryphon ordered to correct the lean condition once I install one of these intakes I just would like to make the best purchase.

I have the Volant intake on my 08 and its great, I have had it for about 2 months now. I don't have a tuner or any other mods. I noticed a little throttle response but mostly top end pull difference, it is quite a bit louder than stock when accelerating hard but not really noticeable when just cruising. MPG did not change at all, I would def recommend one to anyone.
That's exactly what kind of information I was looking for. Thanks. I'm not super worried about gas mileage since it's a four wheel drive truck.

From my truck

I had the Volant installed for over 2 yrs. Took it off about 1 month back because it wasn't compatible with the RoushCharger. Which sucks, because the Roush CAI sucks compared to the Volant.
The Volant adds noise under the hood. Comparable to an old Big Block with 4 barrel carb. You can really hear it sucking the air. I loved the way it sounded. Coupled with the exhaust, and I was really content with the trucks noise levels. The sound disappears when cruising.
I also noticed a little bit better throttle response. Can't claim MPG gains though. I installed it when the truck was <2 months old.
In my opinion, the Volant is the best on the market. I've seen the S&B in person. And it is nice. Also seen the K&N and the Roush...and they're not worth the $$$.
