Talking 1 cent TPMS light fix

well i took a road trip today and had enough of that fricking light annoying me. well i got to thing and the company i work for used to assemble dodge gauge cluster and then i got to think.... so this is how i did it
1. i took the bottom panel off under the wheel
2. unsnap the gauge surround
3. take the 4 screws out the hold the instrument cluster, no need to take it out though, you can leave it all hooked up.
4. GENTLY unsnap the clear lense off the guages, these are very easy to shatter, just go slow.
5. now you can touch the gauges, you will see that little orange bastard blinking away, very slowly wiggle your finger up under the edge of the gauge applique. be careful, they crease real easy. when you get the corner up, you will see the orange led blinking away.
6. take a small piece of black electrical tape and stick it to the back of the applique where the tpms symbol is
7. WAMMMMO the light will still blink, but won't shine through the gauge face and you will never see it again.

i know this is a ghetto fix to the real problem at hand, but i dont need some machine telling me my tires are low in pressure. just thought i would share my cheap fix to my problem.

Just a thought, possibly would filling your tires back up have stopped the blinking?

Yeah obviously not, sorry. Kinda figured it had to do with tire pressure though and filling them up would stop it. But that was kind of a guess. Care to enlighten me with what it really is?

With aftermarket wheels you have to transfer the sensors out of your old wheels. Not really a big deal but it's just one more thing you have to spend money on

each wheel has to have a sensor in it and it relays info back to your truck, but you can have only 1 set of sensors. so if you have 2 sets of rims your gonna have to pay and have them swapped back and forth. fun thing is they are sealed and have batteries in them and when they die you get to buy new ones from ford. life spand is supposedly 7 yrs. just another thing new trucks have to have oh yeah and the oem bands are expensive, so aftermarket ones are cheaper but they dont seem as durable. and if the shop swapping them dont snap the clip in right, they explode if they come loose inside the rim. just a big hassle IMO, good ideal for the mechanically decline or those folks that just gas up there vehicle and dont ever maintain stuff
