Question Tailgate Locking Handle

I searched and did not find a definitive answer for this question.
I ordered a replacement tailgate off e-bay.
It does not come with a key for the tailgate lock.
Has anyone disassembled the handle/locking mechanism?
If so, is it simple to do?
I looked on e-bay for a new Handle with lock including the key but came up empty handed. Looks like i will have to order it directly from Ford. (unless anyone else has info. where i can buy)
Thanks~

You can wire it to unlock/lock with your door locks! I did mine that way, buy a door lock actuator off of Ebay and mount it next to your door lock handle. I tapped into the passenger side door lock wire that runs under the passenger side door/carpet area, ran a wire thru the frame to the tailgate. I also put quick disconnect wire ends on near the tailgate hinge if I ever need to take the tailgate off. That way your never have the tailgate unlocked and have a chance of it being stolen. You could also order the Lincoln tailgate handle that is chrome and it also has the manual key.

You could buy just the lock cylinder kit. It comes in pieces and you build it to fit your key.
7C3Z-1521990-A LIST $47.65.
Some dealers may show/have old # F85Z-1521990-BB but at a higher list $72.63.
