Bedrails needed
Bedrails needed
Fellas - I'm looking at my 05 bedrails and they are beyond back-to-black. I need to order 6.5' XLT left, right, and tailgate plastic rail covers. Does anyone have the correct part numbers? Also, does anyone have the part numbers for the two plastic covers that go between the windshield & front hood (where the windshield wipers are)?
Also, do you think these would be covered by warranty since they are discolored so badly?
Thanks, guys (and gals!)

There was a thread a while ago about removal, cleaning, and painting the wiper cowl. here it is

You might want to give it a try, and do your bedrail caps also.
If you want to replace them all, you can get the tailgate cap here...

just did mine yesterday. They pop off super easy, get a pair of needle nose pliers and peek under the rails, just squeeze the clips and lift. You will have to lift with some force but you wont break anything. I found wiggling it back and fourth and lifting helped alot. just wiggle and lift the bed cap again you wont break it lifting it firmly.
Clean um with simple green and a stiff brush scrubbing very very good. Then just let them air dry. I stood mine up so the water ran off them.
Next get some krylon fusion (satin finish) and put two coats on the rails(dry in between), then do some touch up if the paint is uneven. AFter paint i put on some automotive clear coat, 3 layers (drying to touch in between). After this i set them in the sun for about an hour and then slapped them back on good as new. and ony cost about 15 bucks.

Thanks guys. I was following that thread on painting and it seems like it works great. I'm a little worried about painting them because the truck is black already, and any differential might be too noticeable. Thanks for the painting tips, guys.
I was too, especially with the bed rails. But it came out great, they look better and blacker than OEM, but its not a "painted" look if you get what im saying. Its not like you took it to a body shop and had them shoot them black with texture and all...
