Remote Start Problems

I seem to have a bit of a problem with my Viper Remote Start. I am about to take it back to the installer, but just want to get yalls opinion first. When I start my truck in the morning and its cold the truck gets a higher idle and the truck will only run for about 30 sec and then it shuts off, waits 10sec and resarts, then usually dies again. BUT, if it is warm outside it starts up and runs just fine. What could be the problem?

I'm not familiar with Viper remote starters, I'm a Code Alarm guy. Nonetheless, if it runs for a few seconds, then cuts off, tachless mode may be disabled - the remote start module is looking for an RPM signal that ain't there to tell it that the engine is running.

If you are using tach mode make sure that the tach wire is hooked up to the non-common fuel injection wire, don't use a ignition coil as they can give a jumpy voltage reading when cold causing the problem you stated.

I had the same problem with mine when on a ignition coil, not starting at all, running then restarting over and over...... if you did any thing electrical it would also kill the engine (unlock the door, adjust fan speed, turn on lights).....anyway something to check out......let us know the outcome

Its an easy fix. Find your valet button.

1. Open door (leave open throughout)

2. Start the truck

3. Hold the Valet button until LED lights solid (must be done within 5 secs of start with KEY)

4. Turn off truck

I have the 791xv. When I had this problem with mine the installer had to adjust a voltage setting. He said I had to much of a load for the setting he set it to when he did the install.

Mine would do it with the AC on in the summertime. Since the adjustment no more problems.
