It's called the upper bumper cover and it's plastic not fiberglass. If you still have warranty left, take to the dealer and have them repaint it. If the paint came off from pressure washing, then it obviously was not prepped properly from the very beginning. Ther is special steps that is needed to paint plastic and if not done, or done incorrectly, the paint will peel. Chances are your entire upper cover will need to be repainted cause more than likely the prep job is bad on the whole thing. Also check your grill surround (the painted part around your grill) it's also plastic for any paint defects.

P.S. If you take to the dealer to get it repainted, it happened while you were in one of those self serve coin operated car washes.

Don't worry, common problem. I've done it myself, just do the front by hand. Stay away from using pressure washers in the front. If you get too close it will peel the paint. I touched up the area I peeled off myself. I plan on getting the whole front re-painted though in the future. Damn lovebugs down here in the South!

Even if you are out of warranty take it to your dealership. This happend to my wife's Pontiac four months after the warranty ran out. GM knew they had a problem with this model so I didn't have any hassel and when I spoke to the paint guy he said it the plastic wasn't prepped right prior to painting. They ended up painting the entire frontend to make it right. No problems since and the dealership paid for it all.

really hope i can get lucky (it is still under warranty) gonna take it to the dealership tomorrow. called today just to find out how much the part was... 245.00 and its paint to match so thats without paint and labor . only reason i think they may question it is the actual pressure washer made some fairly good cuts in the plastic as well so its 50/50 i guess.

dont tell them you used a pressure washer if its not obvious. just say you realized paint was missing on the bumper and there is no reason it should be like that.

Wow you must have been really close! Hopefully they will replace it, but maybe just use a hose from now on. Pressure washers are never anything but trouble for any truck ,ATV, etc.

i would only use a pressure washer underneath your truck to get dirt/mud off and to help get larger pieces of mud of the outside of your truck.

my dirtbike has never seen a pressure washer since the water pressure will get water in places you dont want it to.

Same situation: live in s.e. TX and love bugz so thick you'd have to be careful opening your mouth outside lest you get a mouthful...

I couldn't wash my truck for almost 2 weeks after Ike (no power) and by the time I could wash it again, they'd already done a number on the bumper cover.

So my well-meaning husbandperson took his pressure washer...the one for washing the house...yep, you can guess the end result. He was afraid to tell me, he thought I'd be livid. But I'd planned to get it repainted anyways, already checked and around here it'll cost me about $250 to remove and repaint...I thought that was a decent price, what do you think?
