Just bought an F150

I just bought a 2005 F150 4x4 and thought I would check back in with this forum.

It rides a little stiffer than I expected but other than that I am happy so far. I traded in an 02 Explorer on it and it rode softer. I guess I am just not used to a truck.

Yes, an 05 f150 4x4 rides stiffer than an 02 Explorer. It's a truck!

Welcome to the site!

Nice.

You are probably the first one to say this. Everyone I know of thinks the F150 feels like a Cadillac, including my XL base model with barely nothing in it.

I noticed my 05 rode kinda stiff as well even before the leveling kit but my new 08 rides like a cadillac for sure. Maybe the shocks are bad??

My dads 2008 F150 rides a lot smoother than my 2004, and did so even before i put on the lift kit. But then again my shocks were completely shot when i replaced them.

Throw even a couple hundred pounds in the bed and it gets really smooth. The trucks are built tough and need to be able to "give" under extreme loads- hence the slight stiffness when empty.

Overall though, the F150 is one of, if not the smoothest riding truck out there. When I got my 2005 2wd F150 my buddy who drives a 2003 BMW 530i pissed and moaned because my F150 has a smoother ride than his BMW!

I wouldn't call my ride soft or smooth. It rides like a truck. And I'm very happy with that. I also have LT rated tires at 44 psi

Some of y'all with the butter rides most likely have P rated tires at 35 psi

It is probably just me not being used to driving a truck. I checked my tire pressure though and it is at 40 pounds so that should not be the problem. I doubt anything is worn out on it, it only has 17k miles on it.

I searching this forum I saw some posts about being able to adjust the coil overs. How does that work?

It is not as stiff as I first thought. I drove it to work this morning and it was better than I remembered driving it home. I was probably just tired from being at the dealership for so long. It is only harsh over really bad potholes.

It is pretty sweet looking. It is dark red. It could use some larger tires though. The Generals that are on it are pretty small.

I'm coming from a 2004 Ranger Edge, a 2WD with a 4x4 suspension. Now that was stiff, it road high and stiff like a much bigger truck. My 2WD 2008 F150 rides like a dream in comparison. Like some big Caddy or Lincoln almost.

I'm pretty sure your Generals are P rated. If so, they are overaired at 40 psi. Might want to check that out.

get some 33" tall tires
