I have an 05 supercrew and i can be driving down the road and all of a sudden the engine will die down to an idle and the little wrench light will come on. I can cut the truck off and start it back up and it is fine. It has done this about 4 or 5 times. Then yesterday i was driving and the engine just started missing and would not take the gas good. I stopped and let it set for a few minutes and it ran fine but now it is harder to start up. (It turns over 4 or 5 seconds before it starts). There is no check engine light on but when it stalls on the road the little wrench light comes on.

 

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

 

If your fuel pump is going then one day it will just not start at all. Those are the symptoms of a fuel pump on it's last three days.

 

When the problem first started it would do it and then it might be a month or two before it would do it again. This last time when it was acting different like it was missing seemed more like the fuel pump but all the other times i was not sure about.
