rattling coming from rear end?

so the past few weeks ive notice theres a rattling noise coming from the back end of my truck. It doesnt happen all the time, but quite a bit. usually when my back tires go over a bump or something. Ive looked under and cant figure what it could be....anybody had this problem or know what it might be?

I had a similar problem if not the same, took it to the dealership under warranty and they said it was the leaf springs. They greased them and 5,000 miles still no problems.

It felt like the exhaust or spare tire or something rattling around. I was suprised to hear it was the leaf springs and they needed grease.

When it comes to rattles its hard to tell, could be dang near anything. Loose bolt, licsence plate, something stuck in the fender, etc. I really havent heard of many people complaining about a rattling noise in the back though, or anything common.

Get a couple buddies to jump in the bed or something to recreate the sound while you look/listen around underneith to pinpoint the rattle.

Ive also heard of the leafspring problem that Cooper mentioned...I remember reading about it a time or two on here...

I had this problem, but it sounded more like a thud to me than a rattle. I also thought that it could have been the sprare tire or something hitting the frame.
Mine did it just rounding corners, or pulling into the driveway, driving through the parking lot and turning to go down the lanes, etc.
Took it to the dealer and they greased the springs. Was fine for the day then it started all over again and think it was actually getting worse. Took it back and they test drove again and Mechanic put her on the lift and said yep its the leaf springs.
So they changed the springs out on both sides and so far...No noise...

Hope this helps

I've used both WD40 and DeepCreep with great success to cure the noisy leaf blues.

I think the leaf springs might be the rattle I'm hearing. I'm carrying a load today and didn't hear the noise. Would carrying a load and not hearing the rattle indicate the leaf springs?
