For a cheap one my first guess would be Ebay or a junk yard. It might not be the same color but you can PTM it when you get the cash together.

As far as no emblem... I don't believe for ever made one for the F150, and the badge is slightly recessed so you can't just pry it off.

I would find a cheap tailgate from the junk yard, and pry the badge off. Prep it for paint and fill the badge recess with bondo or something similer. Then get it PTM. This would be the cheapest way to go about it. Plus it would look great.

I have a spare tailgate I'm probably going to shave in my spare time. Just need to find a good way to remove the paint so I can get to work (any ideas)? But you can get "skins" for the tailgate, and you just need to get it painted, why don't you try that.

go to wal-mart (with your id) and get some aircraft remover in an arosol can. shake it up, spray it on,wait a bit, and spray it off with water. you will have a shiny bare metal tailgate. just be careful with the stuff.
