I think it was because it was like the third maintenance thing I had done in two months, they drained and replaced the power steering fluid, flushed the coolant system and flushed the tranny the month before. Maybe they decided to cut me a break.

My dealer charges $65. The lube place charges $43. I buy a Motorcraft filter atthe parts store for $13 and it takes about 15 minutes to change.

Replaced my fuel filter this weekend thanks to the info on this site. At first I couldn't get the line to move on the outlet side (front). After I sprayed some wd40 in there and spun the filter around a couple times, the scissor tool released the line. Without finding this info on this site I would have had to bring the truck into the shop to change out the filter. Thanks for the info guys!

Just got the truck but I will be replacing mine every 10-15,000 miles. Maybe even less to avoid doing it in the middle of a North Dakota winter! The filter costs less than $15, the tool is cheap, and its an easy job once you've done it. I see no reason not to change it out often after seeing some of the crap in some of these guys' filters on here.
