I want to deactivate that infernal Door Open Chime on my '05 Supercrew -- don't know how. Any suggestions?

I know that it is tied in to the driver door latch mechanism because I can move the latch with a screwdriver and make it stop -- but I want a more permanent solution.

I want to know if there is a cable I can cut, or a speaker to remove, or a fuse to take out. Maybe there is a comfy place to snip the wire, other than removing the door panel.

To my knowledge there isn't anything that you can do to silence the chime. Cutting the wire to the latch mechanism will also result in disabling the interior lights when the door is open.

If do discover a work-around please post. Many of us are also interested in disabling this annoyance too.

 

Where is the little speaker? I would really like to replace it with that soft, plush sound the newer bmw's have. I'm sure I could find the chimer on ebay.
