Shock height question???

Lookn around for new shocks......i have an 04 4x4 with a leveling kit and an add a leaf. Didnt have any problems(that i knew of) with running the factory length shocks but some different folks i talked to when getting prices said that running factory size shocks will over extend and cause damage. They said i need a shock for a truck with 2" of lift but i cant find anybody who makes them. Anybody have anything to say about running factory length in my situation or a suggestion of where to get shocks for a 2" lift?
thanks

WHoever you were talking to was wrong, or doesn't understand leveling kits. They put a spacer on top of the shock, pushing the suspension down (in a way) and allowing for more clearence, and larger tires. The shock stays the same height. Spacer goes on top.

Make sense ? Stock shocks are fine, or you could do the Bilstein's for a smoother ride, and adjust them up an additional 2" and lose the spacer.

(if im not clear, let me know)

how tall are we talkin?

I have never heard of anyone having any issues with the rear shocks. You could buy some rear Bilstein 5100's though. Would give you a real smooth ride and would definately be long enough.

I ran a 1.5" aal for near 2 years with stock rear shocks. never had one problem, nor where they ever close to being over extended. I agree who ever you are talking to has no clue. You are just fine with stock shocks at the height you are.
