I always carry a 4D cell Mag Light led conversion. It sits in between the seat and center console wedged. I also own a Stinger LED which by far blows away the Mag Light. For 70 bucks the Stinger was a good choice, plus I can go days on one charge!

I bought the LED conversion for my 3D cell Maglite tonight and tried it out. I was a little disappointed in the light output. It isn't near as bright as the Pelican 7060 LED rechargeable I have mounted on my console, nor is it as bright as the Magcharger rechargeables (3D size) I use in the squad cars.

At any rate, maybe the batteries will last longer in it than with the incandescant bulb that it came with, and it does make a much better beam. It rides nicely in the driver's door 'Maglite' holder. If it starts to rattle I will throw a pair of gloves under it, or try to pick up some of those clips and mount it on the front of the driver's seat like you other guys. It will serve as a nice back up for the Pelican. Good thread, guys and gals!

stinger

Stinger much better smaller brighter. I have stinger by streamlight mounted in center console powerer by aux power point circuit by a relay with the sense wire tied into the lighting circuit so it only charges when the lights are on.Since i have the Sunload sensor disabled the headlamps are always on when running. I also have my maglight on the passenger floor wedged between the center console and seat frame.

Brighter than what, a maglite? I agree, but not brighter than a Pelican 7060 or a magcharger. I have a streamlight too, and its a nice light, but not in the same league as those. I have my pelican plugged into the center cig lighter plug for now. It has yet to drain my battery (very little current draw once charged, and on trickle mode). Plus, my truck never sits more than 2 days without moving. But, I may end up putting a mini inline switch, so I can quickly cut power to the charger if I know I may not drive the truck for a few days. I just hate unplugging that snug 12v cig plug.

OK, got mine mounted today. That is THE sweetest spot ever to mount your Maglight. It is more tucked in than the pic makes it look, and is out of the way, but SO close. Thanks FX4life!!

Your talking about 140 lumens vs. 500-600 with:

This is almost like turning on your headlights.

I am not a salesman, just very happy with this light.

I think we all agree that their are more superior lights out there now since the mag came out, but for us average guys who catch the Lowes black friday blowout on the 5 cell mags for nearly nothing, these lights work darn well for what they are, led upgrades make them that much better. Of course, if your a Pro (fire, police, mil, emt) then the others are better suited for your line of work.

YMMV

I can say I am happy with the LED conversion for the Mag, but I cannot compare it to a rechargable mag or Pelican as I have not used either. I will say that my stinger LED blows away a reg Stinger 2 fold, plus the battery life is second to none. Plus I like to be able to change brightness when needed. It's all preferance!!!! What does everyone else carry?

Ya, but I'm using a 3 cell, and don't want to carry the required 4-5 cell to use the upgrade you mention .

Right now I'm using the stock Maglight LED bulb, and I'm shocked how much brighter it is than my old standard bulb Mag!!

Is the Terralux 3cell bulb much of an upgrade from the Maglight stock LED bulb?? Anyone tried it?
