piaa 9008

I read in someone's posting on here that the piaa 9008 bulbs are supposed to come out later this year. Does anyone know if that is true or any info about it? I emailed piaa but have not heard back.

If that is true they took long enough. They have had 6 years to come out with it. I hope they do. I had them on my toyota and loved them.

i don't have any experiences w/ piaa lights, but a friend had them on his ranger. his were ultra whites i think, they looked nice, but not necessarily like hid's. they were just a clean white color, and still had good lighting performance.

i think the big deal was that the DOT restricted production of filtered light bulbs, but somehow silverstar came out w/ the 9008/H13 still after a while

In my S-10 dyas, I paid the 80 bucks for PIAA superwhites once before, and they lasted about 6 months. YMMV. Never again for me.

Maybe they were "hot" (100w) and you didn't change the harness?

I had PIAA's on my Chevy and they only lasted about 8 months. They also were not that impressive for what they cost. I think for 40 bucks the Silverstars cost they are the way to go. I was really impressed with them as the replacements for the price.

one of my friends had piaa's on a ranger for about 2 yrs and they burned out, but he really liked them and i liked the whiteness of the color and the performance. i had silverstars on my '93 f150 for 2 yrs and they burned out. i think silverstars aren't going to last very long either. it's just the nature of what it is- a bulb w/ a coating over it for looks. as far as the color of silverstars, on my old '93 they were practically the same color as factory bulbs, just brighter. that's why i never bought them for my '04. i am running hoen's on my '04 but they suck for performance, can't see a thing at night but they look great for color.
