Wish I had gotten.....

I wish I had done better research and gotten what I really wanted in a truck when I got mine. Make no mistake, I love my 08 Reg cab but there are things I would have done differently if I had it to do all over. Well, a unique opportunity has come my way and I may well get my wish.

After being told many times that 35's won't fit on my 2wd without a lift, wanting to go 4-wheelin, and really regretting not getting the 2 extra doors of the Screw, I am going tonight to trade in my 08 Reg cab I got in April. It only has 2900 miles on it. It probably won't be able to be done but I have to try and like I said, an opportunity has risen that I am going to try to take full advantage of. My first priority is to get the 4-door, the color black is my 2nd objective and last is the 4wd part, I can live with 2WD if need be. I will post when I get home on the outcome. Will likely be late this evening. I will not have pics (if it happens) for a couple of days since I will have to take the one I have now to stock before I turn it over as I intend on taking all my mods to the new truck.

Good luck, I wanted a FX4 but settled for the XLT. Still love the truck.

Thanks guys. I am hoping for an FX4 but the dealership is small and I don't think they have any. Might be an XLT or even another STX if they offer it. I know they have a few FX2's so I will entertain that option before an XL version and maybe even an STX. I am kinda hoping to get the 4.6 like I have as well. I know the power will be lacking but I am okay with that. I am used to it. But I won't turn down the 5.4 if it happens to be on the table.

BTW, anyone know the weight difference between the reg cab and the Screw with the 5.5 bed?

They are giving away used trucks in my area now. Just saw an ad this morning for a '04 4wd sc for $7500.00 at a local dealer, also color is black just like you wanted!

That is a good price but I am going for a new one. I won't go from an 08 to older model. I wil stick with my reg cab before I downgrade.

Oh no, no 09. lol. I don't like the 09's.

I am back home already. He had most of my info on hand so its all up to finance now. I found an 08 XLT 4x4 Screw in black with all the trimmings I want. within 20 mintues he had me in at 0 down and payments about 70.00 higher than I wanted. He told me he would work on it and call me tomorrow. I got really lucky not being upside down on my reg cab. Of course, I will lose that on the Screw but if they really want to sell it, they will come down.

wow....

stop by cvs, walgreens, or what ever pharmacy you have out your way...a $1.29 tub of patroleum jelly will ease the pain

2 wheel drive reg cab to screw fx4...atleast 12k more, then depending on how upside down your on trade...i bet its a $20k swing they try to hit you on if you put little to no down on the current truck.....wow is all i can say

to OP: be careful man. don't depend on their financing. alot of those dealerships are scamming you. a few years back I learned of a nifty little trick they pull on people who depend on them for the financing.

the finance manager calls and gets your credit rating. he then gets ahold of his bank that offers kickbacks. the bank says you are good for say 5% interest. The FM comes to you with a 7% interest rate.

You are happy, because 7% is still a decent rate for a used vehicle and never question why it isn't lower. The finance manager gets 1/2 the difference and the dealership gets the other 1/2. So FM gets 1% and dealership gets 1%...for the entire length of the loan every month.

Best part is, it's 100% legal. You signed the paperwork.

now imagine what his profits would be at $20,000 and a 15% interest rate. never ever trust a Finance Manager. They are out to screw you

good point, however in texas....and i see he is in mesquite....they can only gig you for 1% more than what the bank gives them....but i would hope he is going with fomoco financing...texas has 0% for 60 or 72 months...i think he is looking at a brand new not just new truck

FordMoCo financing is awesome. I got the 5yr/0% when I bought this truck.

Up in Washington State, they don't have a cap on the gigging. I had a stupid little E-3 POS who worked under me sign a contract with 18% interest. The Navy Fed Credit Union would have given him 8%. We're guessing the stealership made at least 9-10% of pure profit off him every month. Just so he could have a Honda Civic. I think he ended up paying $450-500/month for a $15,000 car

the example ^^^ is how I found out about that scheme.
