Mirror problem for a Tech or Experienced Mech

I am currentley driving an 06 KR F150 with the power folding mirrors, I just bought an 08 Lariat fully loaded but it has the new style big towing manual mirrors and I do not like them. I buy allot of truck at this dealership so the owner said we will switch them for you if you want we dont care. I was told buy allot of people I know that the power folding should work on the Lariat as it was built into the harness anyway and the motor was in the mirror.

Well they put them on today and everything works but the folding, I even had them take the switch out of the KR and try it in case they were different but no go. Does anyone know if there is just a jumper or something we can add to the new truck to send the command to fold as I am told switching the wire harness is not an option.

Thanks

you are gonna have to reprogram the BCM and tell the computer that the folding mirrors are an included option on your truck (equipped)

And that is assuming the connectors were the same, and harness looked the same. (number of wires, pin locations etc)

there is a separate power folding mirror module. your truck may have the connector for it but i doubt the module is there. also you may need to install a 10amp fuse in the F4 position of the central junction box.

Do you have a diagram or pic of where this module is ? I still have both trucks right now so I can still take what I need from it and transfer it to the new Lariat.

Syncro instructions:
Exterior Mirror Motor Synchronization — Power Folding
NOTE: This procedure must be performed any time the power folding mirrors are manually folded in or out, or if the position of the mirror case has been moved without using the mirror control switch.

NOTE: If the power folding mirrors are electronically folded or unfolded continuously (6 to 10 cycles), the power lockout feature will disable the system for 2 minutes to prevent damage to the power fold motors. After 2 minutes have elapsed, normal operation will resume.

Set the mirror control switch to the CENTER position.
NOTE: It may be necessary to cycle the power folding mirrors in or out up to 4 times before they are synchronized.

Use the mirror control switch (press rearward) to automatically cycle the power folding mirrors in and out 4 times.
When an audible popping sound is heard, the power folding mirror motors are synchronized.
The rear view mirror system consists of the following components:

Interior rear view mirror
Auto-dimming interior rear view mirror with compass (optional)
Exterior paddle-style mirror with manually adjusted glass
Exterior trailer tow mirror with manually adjusted glass.
Exterior aero-style auto-dimming mirror with power adjusted glass (optional)
Exterior trailer tow mirror with power adjusted glass (optional)
Exterior aero-style auto-dimming mirror with power adjusted glass and power folding mirror heads (optional)
Exterior mirror head power fold motor (optional and not replaceable — aero-style power fold mirrors only)
Exterior mirror control switch (optional — aero-style and trailer tow mirrors only)
Exterior mirror plastic housing
Exterior mirror cover (optional — painted or chrome)
Exterior mirror glass
Heated exterior mirror glass (optional — aero-style and trailer tow mirrors only)
Exterior mirror adjustment motor (optional — aero-style and trailer tow mirrors only)
Auto-dimming exterior rear view mirror (optional — aero-style driver side only)
Memory exterior mirrors (optional — Mark LT only)

more information
The power folding mirror option allows both power mirrors to be folded or unfolded from the exterior mirror control switch. When the exterior mirror switch is set to the power folding mirror (center) position and pressed rearward and released, the mirrors will fold in if they are folded out, or unfold if they are folded in. The power folding mirrors contain a drive motor which is not replaceable. If a power fold motor is inoperative, a new power folding mirror assembly must be installed. The mirror glass motor, mirror glass, turn signal indicator, puddle lamp and exterior mirror cover are the only replaceable components in a power folding mirror. If the power folding mirrors are folded or unfolded continuously (6 to 10 cycles), the power lockout feature will disable the system for 2 minutes to prevent damage to the power fold motors. After 2 minutes have elapsed, normal operation will resume.

still looking for the exact location of the illusive mirror module

"print screen" button, then save and crop in paint. (button top left by scroll lock button)

If you have a printer configured for your computer you can hit print button, then save it to a file, by checking a small box under the printer choice box

Bigmoss, no problem at all, and i agree about the site
