Squeaking noise fixed, but no aal.

Okay so I FINALLY got around to taking my truck to the dealer for that nasty suspension creaking. Turns out it was something in my rear leafs. The dealer warrantied it because they thought that it was the actual leaf pack and not the aal. Now my truck sits a little lower in the back and I want to it be back where it was about an inch or two. Should I put the leaf back in or get a bigger block? They said if I put the leaf back in they won't cover it again...

I had this nasty creaking whenever the suspension was flexing.
They just replaced the leaf pack and gave me back my aal. I thought about the fabtech block but I wasn't sure if that would level me out. Right now I have a procomp block and stock block.

well i think the procomp block is 2 1/2"s and the stock is 2" and the aal is 2" so thats a total of 6 1/2"- 6" depending on how it sets.. the fabtech block is 5"
i dont know this is a tuff call, how does your aal look, still look new? it could be that maybe the aal is a defected one??

yeah I know... I am not sure what to do. I don't really think the aal is defective because I have had it on for a year, unless it got bent or messed up. On the other hand I don't want to buy the blocks for $50 and for it to still sit short. I am going to go by a spring shop in town and see what they say. I could put the aal back on, worse case scenario I have to take it off but it's a lot of work for someone without the proper tools... Any advice?

With a jack and some basic tools it is not very tough of a job. If you don't feel comfortable though, I am sure some shop would do it cheap.

do you have a tool set? the $20 set you can buy from Walmart/Target is enough to do a leaf pack.

easy to do. maybe 1 hour of work to unbolt, slip in aal and rebolt up axle

Add-a-leaf, which is literally just like it sounds...adding a leaf to the pack to get extra height.

How do you like the ride without the AAL? If you like it, do a block. If it's too soft, put in the AAL.

Normally AAL only get firmer as spring tension increases on the factory leafs. So the difference bewteen the ride should not be much. The main concern would be if the rear shocks are properly setup for their distance.

I sold the AAL the OP has to him. It made a difference in the ride of my stock leafs, mainly it was firmer. My stock shock travel worked fine with the AAL.

Stealth is right, it is definitely a firmer ride. Honestly it is a truck so I don't expect it to be super smooth. My concern is buying that 5" block and for it to still sit short. I am fairly confident I could put the aal back in. Pat and I did it originally but we had a full shop at our disposal.
