Tranny Trouble

i was driving through the rain the other day to go to the movies when i noticed my truck was revving really high but since i have the stx i dont have a tach to verify this. i wasnt really sure if anything was wrong i thought maybe it was just the rain and hills, but it did it the next day too. if i stomped it from a dead stop it would shift fine but under a light throttle it would take forever to shift. took it into the stealership today and they said something is wrong with 3rd and 4th gear. now they have to drop the tranny and get parts which leaves me without a truck for 3-4 days. can the gears really go bad overnight cause i was thinking this would be more of a pcm issue

I was cruising on the highway one day when randomly my truck just shat itself, and all of a sudden it wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. it wouldnt go faster than 50 without hitting ridiculous RPMs. drove it to the nearest stealership, they dropped the tranny and sure enough 3rd gear and overdrirve bands were both fried. completely sucked. that was at 72k miles.

Oh yes...been there done that. The best part was it happened at 39K, which is 3K out of warranty. Now, with less than 9K on the rebuilt tranny, the SOB is back in the shop for slipping. The thought of a black Mustang GT is sounding pretty good right now for me

No. Im sure its wear that happens over time.

My truck gets worked pretty hard. Beat up offroad during hunting season, and working on the ranch over the summer. Lots of hauling, and lots of climbing and stress at elevation. Ive towed 7000 pounds with 1000 pounds in the bed up steep grades and over mountain passes 6000 ft in elevation. After 72k miles of abuse, i figured it made sense that it happened.

Luckily the new one came with a 75k mile warranty. So im good until 150k. Im looking into an auxiliary cooler and a deeper pan for it.

that sucks! I think I may be having trouble with my tranny if I get on the highway and speed up to 80 it will stay in gear I almost have to feather the throttle to make it fall into gear. I am nervous about taking it to the dealer since it has a lift... We all know how that goes... Is this covered under premium care?

Exactly why you, sir, should have bought the legendary ManualF150.

Although... I kind of find it lack luster when it comes to passing power... and quick shifted-ness.
