Edge and '08 F-150

I moved my Edge from my '06 to my new '08 F-150. Both are 5.4L engines and I was under the impression that the Edge was supposed to be applicable for trucks up to the '08 model year.

When I try and program the truck into level 1 or 2 I get error F1, something about the calibration level is not supported by the Edge and to check that I have the latest level. I did check and I do have the latest firmware and calibration.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Also, I have several DTCs present but I'm quite certain that they are because I only have 200 miles on the truck and the alt cal may still be active. The OBDII cycle has not completed and some other weird ones I'll have to check and write down.

Nope, haven't asked them yet as they aren't open on Saturday. However, I'll be on the horn, come Monday, for information. I was just fishing for some info here on the forum because there are a lot of people who visit this board that are pretty sharp. Lots of great information and ideas from the users here.

I hooked up to my PC and verified that the software and calibration is up-to-date. However, I'm using the Lightning software. Are you suggestion that I use the Fusion software?

It is telling you that the stock strategy your 08 truck is running is not yet in your program. You need to update your Edge and if it still doesn't work, then you need to call Edge and give them your strategy so they can write a fix to include it.

I believe there is an update specifically for 08 trucks last time i was in Fusion. Edge has great customer support tho, they diagnosed my problem over the net and could see that the lightning software glitched had fried my last edge. They sent a replacement the next day!!

EDIT: skidder is right, the fusion software will not work with older edges.

You will have to switch to the fusion programming. Depending on the unit number of your edge you may need to replace it with a newer one. I went from an 05 to an 08 and had the same issues. I contacted Edge and they exchanged my unit and sent it with the new fusion software. Just give them a call!

Thanks for the replies.

I did attempt to update the module with the Fusion software with no success. Looks like I'll have to wait until Monday.

Just got off the phone with one of the Edge people. Turns out the older module (part number EEF2400) is not compatible with the '08 truck. They gave me an RMA number and address for an exchange. I'll be mailing it out today.

Need to give two thumbs up to Edge for this. I'm very happy with their response.

That's great! Good to know they will take care of you. Not too many companies would send you a new one with a model change.

yup I've never had a problem with them!
They more or less had to replace my first gen evo because the first gen evos don't work with fusion software, due to the fusion software is compatible with Vista where the lightning software isn't. So i upgraded my computer and got a free evo upgrade!
